Weight loss jabs- new rules

Cosmictortoise25 · 03/04/2025 06:13

I have now got my bmi down to a better place and stopped taking jabs but despite controlling diet and exercise it is creeping up again- constant food noise and menopause symptoms are now off the scale (night sweats, aches and pains and heavier periods). I have tried reordering jab on line but asked for photos or medically certified proof of weight- I just want to microdose to keep within the bmi parameters and manage menopause symptoms but can’t get the jabs- does anyone have any ideas? Have tried juniper, pharmacy2u etc? Thank you

This isn’t a new rule, it’s always been the case that if you come off the jabs then you have to meet the criteria to go back on them.

there isn’t anything you can do now.

Try Oushk, They have a maintenance plan.

This is simply not true, not a part of the prescribing guidelines and needs correcting.

Most pharmacies will simply ask for proof of a previous prescription. Some may well reject you out of hand but that is an internal policy decision of the prescribing pharmacist, and not guidelines.

There are several pharmacies that actively support maintenance such as Pharmulous, Cloud, Simple Online and Oushk, and OP would be best advised to approach one of them. There is a maintenance thread in this section which is worth reading.

Ousk have accepted me. BMI around 27 but had to show my last prescription from January. I am swapping from Wegovy to mounjaro too.

Edited

What dose will you be taking and how much will it cost, please? I'm in the same boat. Weight creeping up.

Moirarosesgarden · 03/04/2025 10:26

I think you have to start on lowest dose if swapping, so am on the 2.4.

I had been on Wegovy 14 months and lost 4 stone. Stalled slightly recently but reason for swapping is mounjaro is approved for longer term use, and is now thought to be even more effective than Wegovy.

cost me £112 as found a code for them on monj.co.uk website. Their prices are reasonable and they do maintenance hence choosing them anyway.

I think the reality is for many of us we need to stay on a low dose as it’s a chemical or genetic imbalance that’s caused this in the first place. I took a months break after losing 3 stone and all my symptoms came roaring back including joint pain & constant craving of carbs & sugar despite being on 3-5mg for nine months. I was able to restart using proof of previous script and my history. Worth trying a few others but i needed photos and evidence.

But the OP has already stopped the medication. Pharmacies provide maintenance when you’ve not completely stopped it.

thats not the OPs case, shes been off it for some time now

If you can adequately prove your prescribing history some pharmacies may take you on for maintenance even if you have been off it a couple/few months.

Again, no. This is incorrect. I don't know why you don't do some research before posting this stuff so equivocally.

The fact that a person was prescribed MJ because they were obese is what matters. Many people stop when they reach their goal weight, and then, some time later realise that they are putting weight on again. In fact research indicates that 85% of people will put weight back on within a few years. Because they were originally obese when first prescribed MJ means that they can be prescribed again, even if their BMI is under 30 or even if it is under 25. Some prescribing pharmacists might choose not to, but that is simply their personal decision.

MJ is licensed for weight maintenance for people who were originally prescribed it when obese.
