Did anyone stall on 15mg and come out the other side?

Hi I am on my 4th month of 15mg, have lost 79lbs since I started in June, has been a steady but consistent journey. The issue I have is that last month I have only lost half a pound, it’s my 4th month on 15mg, I calorie count eat high protein, I drink plenty of water and have increased my exercise, but I’ve only lost half a pound. 😢 I’ve nowhere to go with my dose as am on top dose, but still have 14lbs to lose to get into healthy BMI. I feel really disheartened but am hoping it’s just a plateau and that April will see me moving on again, had anyone else had this plateau at a similar stage and then been able to start losing weight again? I would be happy to just get back to 2lb a month at least I would get to target by the Autumn.

When you say you calorie count have you readjust your allowance to reflect your weight loss?

Mysticmaiden · 03/04/2025 20:03

Yeh I'd check your calorie deficit, my bmi is 27.5 I'm 11st 1lb and my calorie deficit is only 1250 so quite easy to go over if I don't track everything. Another thing that helps is limiting carbs and increasing protein. Along with water shifts it for me and I'm losing 1lb a week on 10mg.

Hi yes my target now is 1200 a day, should give me a lb a week loss. I don’t eat carbs and use nutracheck to track

Don’t give up. I feel that because you’ve lost so much weight in a short space of time it’s only natural things will slow down.

I don’t have as much weight to lose as you (I’ve lost one and a half stone and will be happy to lose another stone) but have too noticed my weight loss is slowing down. I also have notice the days I go for a walk, gym or swim, my weight decreases the following day. I now can understand we need to exercise/ walk and not just rely on eating less.

Just my opinion but hope it helps

If you are genuinely in a deficit and tracking every single calorie you should be losing weight. GLP1s won’t stop you losing weight, they only assist you to keep within a deficit. Have a look at what you need again, and how you track. Is it totally accurate?

Also, you can eat carbs.

Millymollymine · 04/04/2025 20:01

Hi i don’t eat carbs (or eat very low specific carbs eg green veg) because I am insulin resistant, and despite losing so much weight and eating low/no carbs I still have only just normal fasting blood sugar numbers. (I test everyday). However today I git my period and realised I haven’t actually had one for 7 weeks 😳 so I’m hoping it may be related to that - fingers crossed.

You e list very quickly. I've been on WLI two years and haven't lost that much, well done. Your body needs to recompose so it's probably doing that. Just keep doing the same and it will move eventually

Orangesandlemons77 · 04/04/2025 20:10

I'm also on 15mg and finding the first days I don't have much appetite so am thinking of having some intermittent fasting days then which might help

If the overdue period doesn’t jog some action, people seem to recommend having a weekly calorie total, but spread unevenly with some higher calorie days and some lower.

unsync · 04/04/2025 20:16

Yes, things slowed down and got quite erratic. Then I started weight training and it's stabilised things, I'm back with regular, weekly losses.

AskKitty · 05/04/2025 02:45

Why do you have to reach a specific target? That doesn’t seem natural to me. Perhaps your body is comfortable and healthy at your new current weight, especially after losing so much, and so is resisting further losses. People on weight loss threads it seems to me sometimes want to punish their bodies into submission when they are in a good place.

MountKilimounjaro · 05/04/2025 03:28

I am in an almost identical position.

Third month on 15mg, haven’t lost anything at all in two months having lost slowly and steadily before (84lbs over a year).

I also have a similar amount to lose to get to a healthy weight (10 lbs to go).

The good news is that just this week things have started to move again. A sudden drop of 3lbs from nowhere.

I’ve been trying to reframe it in my mind as my body settling into its new form and rebalancing itself. Like taking a rest on a long journey, hopefully after a good rest it will be ready to keep powering onwards.

All I can suggest is to keep plodding on, things will move. I imagine this last push is going to be a much slower crawl.

MountKilimounjaro · 05/04/2025 03:39

Forgot to add that I was also overdue my period by the same amount…first time in my life (other than pregnancy) that I’ve skipped a period.

It’s just arrived but very very light. So maybe that’s the reason for sudden movement?

@AskKitty that’s a fair question, I think it helps to have a goal to aim for and from my point of view aiming to get to the recommended BMI is actually a very sensible aim. Once I have a healthy BMI of 25 I’ll then work out whether that’s the right place for me. I think a lot of people have a target in mind and readjust as they get closer.

I’m definitely not punishing my body, getting to a healthy weight is the opposite of punishment in my mind.

AskKitty · 05/04/2025 12:42

@MountKilimounjaro for sure - whatever helps you. I was also trying to make the point that BMI can be a questionable target, very ballpark. I know I would be skinny, verging on gaunt even at the top range of BMI; towards the lower end I would look ill. For myself, I want to reach a weight that feels healthy and positive, rather than a particular BMI target …

MountKilimounjaro · 05/04/2025 14:01

@askkitty agree entirely. So hard to know what’s right. A good reminder to reassess goals as we get closer to them and adjust for what suits us. Hard not to fixate on some of the milestones though, especially when society/Drs etc all benchmark us against them. Amazing how much we have to unpack on this journey!
