I’ve seen a lot of people say they’ve not told anyone they are using weight loss injections, even their closest family and friends. I haven’t started yet, waiting for my first pen to arrive, and so far have only told my husband. I don’t plan to tell anyone else straight away but I imagine I might tell my sister and a couple of close friends eventually. I’m not sure I’d be able to fib about why I wasn’t feeling well if I had side effects.

I’m curious what others have done and who you’ve told?

Family who I live with as I don’t want to keep it a secret from them (makes it easier to explain side effects as well) and my sister (only sibling)

Have no want or need to tell anyone else.
Prefer to keep it private.

I told everyone but I am a chronic over sharer.

I’m the opposite! I’ve told no one. DH would blab to all and sundry so I can’t be bothered to tell him. I do wonder if people suspect but no one has asked me outright!

I’ve told almost everyone, I don’t care. I haven’t had any negative responses. The only people I haven’t told are my parents, as my DM is an avid Daily Mail reader so will reel out all the scare stories at me.

Tell everyone, you’d be shocked how many referrals have been made off the back of being open.

Anyone who asks how I’ve lost weight, I feel like it would be dishonest to say that it’s all willpower and good choices, especially if they are struggling with their weight and wanting inspiration and ideas. I am putting in the work, doing the right things, but I wouldn’t be achieving these losses and with this consistency without the Mounjaro, so I feel like it would be unfair to lead them to believe they just aren’t doing a good enough job.

Mentioned to husband he said not to do it and was going to tell best friend. Met her for drinks and she looked amazing - she confessed she'd been on it for a month!! So now we are MJ buddies! I'm sure i'll tell husband at some point that I ignored his advise!

Absolutely No One

I think if people ask then you should be honest, same as with Botox etc. Then people won’t feel inferior in comparison.
It will also encourage others to do the same which will be positive for their health

My partner knows, would be weird to hide it from him.

I haven't told anyone else but mainly because I think weight loss chat (outside of a specific weight loss chat forum!) is pretty boring. If someone asked me directly I'd tell them the truth.

Personally, I wouldn’t ask anyone how they lost weight. I probably wouldn’t even comment on their weight loss in the first place. I might say they “look well” (except for a friend of mine who basically went on a coffee and cigarette diet, she soon looked ill 😂). I consider it a private or personal matter in a way and women already hear enough on the subject. I suppose if I was losing a lot more weight people might notice but at 2 - 3 stone the change is less drastic, especially over time (I’m a slow loser).

AskAl · 02/04/2025 11:57

PS. I met one friend who couldn’t wait to tell me - and everyone - about her weight loss on MJ, she was so excited and I was really pleased for her. But I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way - what you “should” or “shouldn’t” do. It’s best to do what suits you as it’s your personal business and your decision. There is so much information out there nearly anyone can look into the subject and choose WLI if they choose. Some people are just more private on these kind of issues.
