Weight Lifting / Toning up

Hope this is okay to ask here...

Can anyone recommend a basic weight lifting routine I can find online, I dont mind paying for an app, but didnt want a subscription really.

I go to a basic gym with the usual machines and free weights but have no clue where to start - I'm already nervous so Id feel better if I could at least pretend I know what Im doing 😅

Also any tips for toning up or maintaining muscle mass on munjaro?

If there’s a PT or you can bring one in, paying for a session to set you up with a routine, plus a follow up after a month or two, would probably be a good investment. Form matters so it’s good to have an IRL person to show you.

Hoping other people will have good online tips tho, because I just google random stuff 😁

I asked the same question on another forum and they recommended the Boost app. I have just started a new workout plan recommended for me on the app and it's really easy to follow (and free). But I am new to this too so hopefully you get more recommendations!

Weight lifting is great! I second getting a PT if you can to help with correct forms and building routines, I love going to my PT and I’m usually an exercise hater:

Start slowly is my best advice.

Try the Stronger by the Day App by MegSquats. I absolutely love it. I’ve been lifting for some time with a PT but have been a bit lost since she moved away. This app has got me right back on track. There’s a 7 day free trial so you can see if it suits you, the discount codes on the MN discount thread.

Sydney Cummings! Very accessible and suitable for beginners as well as those more advanced in their weights journey. She’s so friendly and encouraging, looks at modifications etc

Oh and she’s free. On YouTube. Just pick random sessions or follow one of her programmes. I think I started with Ignite.

Page marking so I can come back to these suggestions, thanks for sharing

I use the Evolve You app - it is really great. The workouts are simple and easy to follow and are only around 45 mins long. I had a previous app where I seemed to be in the gym forever!

'Couch to Barbell' is excellent, but would also def recommend a session or 2 with a PT to show you form; so much of weight training is about the little things of how you use your shoulders or core, where you place your body weight etc. https://www.couchtobarbell.com/

Before the Barbell by Meg Squats.
She's an amazing weight training coach and she's made a full programme for free for people new to lifting.

Search for before the barbell on instagram - the account has the full breakdown of days and added videos for every exercise.

Following!
I have actually hired a PT to do weights with and follow a programme with her to make sure I get the form right whilst starting out, to avoid injury.

£400 for 10 sessions over 8 weeks.

once I am set up I expect I will go it alone. Or join an online set up.
