Where to buy Rybelsus?!

I had a pack of this bought online a while ago as I don’t get on with injections. I stopped for a while due to various things going on at the time - I now want to go back on it and can’t find it anywhere!! Understand it’s ’off label’ for weight loss, but it didn’t seem to be a problem a year or so ago. Any tips? TIA

I was on these medications ( Tablet form from my GP) Think you need a prescription.

Oldcrockpot · 13/03/2025 18:18

I got an online prescription last time I got it, that’s what I mean. I know you can’t just buy it OTC!

RYBELSUS® may cause serious side effects, including:

  • Possible thyroid tumors, including cancer. Tell your healthcare provider if you get a lump or swelling in your neck, hoarseness, trouble swallowing, or shortness of breath. These may be symptoms of thyroid cancer. In studies with rodents, RYBELSUS® and medicines that work like RYBELSUS® caused thyroid tumors, including thyroid cancer. It is not known if RYBELSUS® will cause thyroid tumors or a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) in people

Try just searching for the drug name and not the trademark name, if you haven’t already that is.

SilenceInside · 13/03/2025 18:25

As it’s not approved for weight loss I think most places have swapped to providing Wegovy injections instead.

After a quick google, it looks like Ashcroft pharmacy may prescribe it. At least it’s on their website with a price and it lets you select it before starting the consultation.

caramac04 · 13/03/2025 18:42

Oh blimey! I’m on this as a replacement for the injections I was on when supplies were scarce. As a T2 diabetic of 20 years I need this medication and truly hope I don’t struggle to get it if people are buying it privately.
I’m not overweight, it’s to help control my blood sugar.

Whether or not the NHS has stocks and will continue to prescribe it to you is not related to people possibly getting a private prescription for it for weight loss. And as I said already, as it’s not approved for weight loss I think most places have swapped to providing Wegovy injections instead.

It's not a zero sum game, if one obese person manages to get a prescription for Rybelsus (which is unlikely) it doesn't mean that it's taken away from a T2 diabetic. Overweight or not.

@caramac04reading my post back I think it’s not clear what my point is.

There is no shortage of Rybelsus. What has happened since the OP last bought it, is that Wegovy has been made available specifically for weight loss. So nearly all the online private prescribers have made a business decision to switch to providing Wegovy injections rather than prescribing Rybelsus off label. So Rybelsus is not now widely available for private prescription for weight loss, because Wegovy is. All of that is entirely separate to NHS supplies and prescribing.

Oldcrockpot · 13/03/2025 19:12

@SilenceInside that makes sense as to why it’s disappeared. I don’t have diabetes but have a strong family history of it and feel like I’m going to go the same way if I don’t get on top of things. I really don’t want to inject :(

@Oldcrockpotis it the thought of doing a self injection that’s the issue, or something else? I have been very needle phobic in the past but find the Mounjaro Kwikpen doesn’t trigger that at all. I would think the Wegovy one would be similar too.

There has been a shortage of rybelsus in the past. Anyone who thinks that the availability of wegovy for weight loss had no impact on availability of dulaglutide for diabetics is wrong. Manufacturers made more money for private prescriptions than selling to the nhs.
I think it’s a shame that supplies were not sorted out prior to this.
I think the meds should be available to both diabetics and overweight people.
I had no issues injecting and massively preferred it to taking rybelsus but GP has said it’s very unlikely I’ll get dulaglutide again.

SilenceInside · 13/03/2025 20:31

@caramac04 Could you explain more about why the introduction of Wegovy (semaglutide) injections for weight loss meant that the supply of Trulicity (dulaglutide) injections for diabetics has been interfered with? And how that has affected supplies of Rybelsus tablets? It's this bit that I'm unclear about - "Anyone who thinks that the availability of wegovy for weight loss had no impact on availability of dulaglutide for diabetics is wrong. "

Are you saying that Eli Lilly essentially decided as a business decision to stop making Trulicity, because Wegovy was experiencing a surge in demand? Or is it something else?

caramac04 · 13/03/2025 20:54

Yes I do think it was a business decision. For the nhs I’m sure rybelsus is a cheaper option and I’m grateful to have some effective meds despite being less convenient.
I didn’t experience the shortage of rybelsus as it was before I was prescribed them but it might have been the greater prescribing of them led to a blip in supplies.
I did hear that the scarcity of dulaglutide was more to do with the components of the pens rather than the meds within. Those components were available for wegovy is my understanding.
Tbh I realise that I sound like I’m blaming people with healthcare needs different to mine and I don’t mean to be. Obesity is very complex and if a weight loss drug can help people then they should be able to get it.

susanwoodward · 29/07/2025 13:47

You can get it from NHS but sometimes it is difficult to get from them. Rybelsus is available in local pharmacies as well. However, it is depend on your area & country if it not remote area. You can order Rybelsus online also but you will have to provide doctor prescription. My one of cousin ordered it overseas with prescription. However doctor are prescribing wegovy more than Rybelsus.

I've seen this site recommended on reddit: skitesintl.com/

Oldcrockpot · 01/08/2025 22:09

@LizzyEm that looks dodgy AF 😂

Oldcrockpot · 01/08/2025 22:09

🤷‍♀️ idk, I just saw it recommended a lot on Reddit.

Oldcrockpot · 02/08/2025 06:20

@LizzyEm thank you for sharing, they don’t seem to ask for any bank information so maybe I’ll give it a go!
