Irritation at injection site

I often have a bruise or slight irritation at the site of injection - injection is being done correctly re hygiene etc.
I do have sensitive skin that bruises very easily anyway.
This time I have a 10p size bruise that feels tender and itchy, injection was Sunday. Anyone have similar? What shall I put on it, if anything?

I got reactions when I changed supplier and the needle length/brand changed.

I tried some hydrocortisone cream I had in the house and it helped but not much the reaction still lasted for 2-3 weeks for each injection. I have read some poster trying antihistamines orally or in a cream.

When I bought some pen needles that were my original length/brand it stopped. The BD Viva needles must have something in them, perhaps a coating that doesn't agree with me.

Yes that was was I was thinking, must be something that’s causing the irritation that’s not the actual medication. My stomach is full of small bruises of various colours depending on age!
I’ll try some hydrocortisone, thanks.
It will be interesting to see if I get it from my bonus dose using the insulin syringe, I can’t remember from last time I used one.

Seen many people say use a longer needle.

I’ve had the occasional irritation that was more dry and red than anything else. It was about the size of a smartie and didn’t really bother me. Now though I use an insulin syringe to inject because I was fed up of the needles my supplier provided bending.

I’m so squeamish the thought makes me feel a bit squiffy but I guess it makes sense. Thanks!

What brand / length are you using now? The ones that caused me problems were BD Viva and when I googled it looked like they were not popular needles between diabetics with many complaining about them.

The difference between 4mm and 6mm isn't too much (an I am a complete needle wimp). If you are already on 6mm I would try a different brand rather than 8mm.
