So I'm nearly 46 , hormones kicking in , put on 5 stone in 5 years , currently 13 1/2 stone , never been bigger than 9 stone , am I was 9 stone when I was full term pregnant. Tried all types of exercise, my diet is actually very good and I blame hormones for my weight gain. Any advice ay long story short thinking of taking mounjaro but worrying about putting more weight on if I ever decide to stop taking it 🙈👎🤦‍♀️

I’m 43 and it’s definitely helped me. I put a massive amount on since covid but it’s slowly dropping off.

Did you have any side effects? How long have you been taking it now if you don't mind me asking?

It's amazing stuff. But you need to be in a calorie deficit. You can't be gaining weight just from hormones alone - you must be in a calorie excess. Have you tried weighing and counting for a week to see where you're going wrong? My diet was also good but just too much of it. It's important to know where the gain is coming from.

You might put more weight on anyway, given that's the pattern you've followed for the last 5 years. At least if you lose weight with Mounjaro you'd only go back up to 13.5st rather than up to 18.5st.

A long period on Mounjaro whilst you're losing weight could give you the headspace and the chance to look at what you're actually eating and what you need to eat to lose weight.

Mounjaro will sort you out. Like with any diet, you have to not put the weight back on ideally!

Yes I've tried weighing my foods etc , have used different apps , I don't snack and don't have sugar etc, I can sometimes go for a couple of days without eating because I don't get hungry and literally don't feel like eating. I'm pre menopausal according to my doctor and weight gain is normal apparently, I don't really believe that though , I used to drink cider could be that , now I drink gin and low calorie tonic 🙈

That's a great way of thinking, definitely don't want to end up 18 stone 🙈 I think I'm going to order some

Weight gain is common in menopause but it's not menopause causing weight gain, it still comes from excess calories. I'm not sure how you think WLI will help you lose weight if you don't get hungry and sometimes forget to eat. It doesn't add up. What did you learn from your counting/tracking?

unsync · 05/03/2025 17:01

You will still need to be in deficit, with or without MJ. You need to eat regularly whether you feel like it or not.
