Hello my pal who is on mounjaro tells me I must take protein shakes (I'm a vegetarian). I've just started mounjaro. Any good recommendations?

You don't have to have protein shakes, I don't because I find them universally vile. If I feel I need to eat more protein I like the Arla protein yoghurts.

You don't need protein shakes, but making sure you are eating enough protein is helpful. It feeds your muscles and helps to combat muscle deterioration alongside resistance exercises.

If you can eat enough eggs, legumes etc then there's no need to introduce shakes. Can be helpful if you find it difficult to fit in enough food though.

I mix chocolate protein powder in with greek yogurt.

I get silk chocolate from My Protein and just wow.

You don’t need shakes but upping your protein will help to prevent loss of muscle mass

You don’t have to have protein shakes, but I do like to have them as I enjoy them. I use 1 scoop vanilla whey powder from my protein, 200g 0% Greek yogurt, 200ml semi skimmed milk and 80g frozen mixed berries. It’s 354cals and 40g protein 😋

Echoing what everyone else has already said - you absolutely do not need protein shakes, but you absolutely need protein.
You should aim for 1 g of protein per 1 kg of body weight.
Your body doesn’t really care where the protein comes from - eggs, fish, pulses, beans, tofu, yogurts. But most people especially veggies find it tricky to manage to eat enough protein just in food. Hence why the protein shakes, bars, yogurts, puddings really come in handy. 2 protein-rich items from the above would probably give you 40-50 g of protein and they’re quite convenient as a snack/sweet treat.

I really like GetPro yoghurts from Tesco. They do have artificial sweeteners, but are less sweet and taste more natural than other brands I've tried. 15g protein for 90kcal.

Similar here - I have the Lindahls Kvarg which is 82 cals & 15 g protein, they always seem to be on offer too.

I don’t take protein supplements or anything I just eat proper clean food.

I never came back to you. Thanks for your suggestions. I have a breakfast smoothie of almond milk one or two scoops of protein powder a banana and berry. It's addictive. I'm a pescatarian and I'm cows milk intolerant so getting the protein can be quite tough / the smoothies help!

I had to stop the three egg omelettes as it was a sulpher nightmare!
