Started MJ Sept found very easy to lose weight and ate well didn’t starve myself and upped exercise, was already active but literally never used to lose weight. Stopped taking around 6 weeks ago as despite still being1 stone over healthy BMI was hsppy with weight and as in late 50’s was bit concerned as lost a lot from face and felt aging. It always first place to go when I have lost weight previously.
Had 5 week working away including holiday tagged on visiting relatives so didn’t want to risk upset tum either. They love to cook and eat and for 3 weeks I ate and drank far too much. Came home clothes now so tight and feeling so disappointed with myself.
thought had conquered my food demons as was doing good eating, exercise and in good headspace.
maybe I have to really limit eating junk may just do at weekends as it has surprised me how easy it has been to go down the slippery slope of self destruct and mindless eating with no rationale or reason. I seriously wonder what is wrong with me.
I am restarting MJ tomorrow hoping to lose what I have gained and maybe bit more to get that last bit off to finally get to healthy BMI.
am I destined to just always having to stay on track and never deviating or maybe just have weekend where can have some treats.
if anyone has any advice please advise or share your experiences.
unsure if some just prone to this my son is similar whereas my 3 daughters always slim and never overeat. Sounds silly but almost feel like a food demon takes over and it isn’t me.
I don’t want to take MJ long term.

I saw my very sensible GP today, who said that there are recent findings that you should stay on the medication for some while after reaching your ideal weight. He’s recommending 18-24 months at the moment. So not necessarily forever, but certainly for a good while to get used to maintenance eating. He said it’s all so new, everyone is just figuring this out. I don’t know what studies he’s referring to and I haven’t read them, but he’s a very good doctor who likes to keep up to date.

What a brilliant GP.

Quite a few years ago at least Lyle McDonald researched and talked a lot about the set point theory. It's been years since I read the research but it was very much based around bodies taking 18-24 months to reset to a new weight. And in the meantime hormones like ghrelin and leptin will try to make us eat more to go back to our old weight hence the set point theory. I think mj somehow puts those hormones under control giving us a much better chance at staying that weight

Feathers thanks for that I've decided I'm not going to bother and just stick to no chemicals in my body and end up with goodness knows what in years to come. As I'm not 'stupid'

@typicaltuesdaynight I know I was probably pretty rude to you and apologies for that but the fact remains - you do not take this drug for 4 weeks because you fancy a quick boost. It doesn't work like that - and a quick google would show that

But hey, it's no skin of my nose! You're just daft for doing it

If you think that people taking WLI will end up with “goodness knows what” in years to come and you describe it as chemicals, the question is why you want to take it for four weeks? For a start it’s completely pointless and won’t give you the quick boost you are after but if you actually think it’s harmful, why take it?

Well yeah you said you weren’t going to do it but earlier you said you were waiting for your first delivery which means you’ve paid for it already. So because someone told you that your plan to use it for just a month due to cost reasons isn’t a good one, you have now decided it’s dangerous and poisonous. Your choice of course but I’d be annoyed if I’d just flushed £120 or so down the toilet.

@DollyPop100 have you read the Why We Eat Too Much book by Andrew Jenkinson? I've been following the concepts broadly (lost a stone pre-MJ following them), and it explains why calorie restriction doesn't work (all about leptin, ghrelin, insulin as a PP above mentioned). I can't stand calorie counting anyway but understanding the science behind the hormones and how your body will try to adapt its metabolism to make you hang on to weight really helped. I'm not planning on using a maintenance dose as I'm backing myself to stick to the way of eating he outlines (well, 90% of the time!) so limited wheat/sugar/UPFs/veg oil.

❄️ sorry you've wasted your money

And why so rude? Why not? This person is not grasping the very basics of MJ and needed to be told.

@DollyPop100 how are you feeling now? More in control?

Thank you will have a look at that.

OP I think you should think again about the prospect of being on MJ long term.

I've still got three stone to lose (having lost 7 stone) and I am accepting of the probability of being on it for life.

Hi back on it since Monday getting back into it but it is so weird that grasping, craving feeling definitely reduced whilst on MJ. I don’t seem to have had as big a reduced appetite as when I first started. Maybe it just needs to build up in my body ? Started on 2.5?on tbh I never when higher than 3.75 getting eggy burps has anyone had these ?
determined for this to work, get on track and get to the healthy BMI and stay there. Clothes tight again which is always good motivation not going back to next size up. Loving having lost a few dress sizes and do not want that getting upset feeling when going shopping as nothing fits.
thanks for all your comments and help much appreciated to have this support.

Had a good week back on it, wow the relief of the food noise being gone is incredible.
Feel hunger which is the way I prefer it so can still eat but not having that insatiable feeling of grabbing stuff quickly or binge eating.
I am a geek 😆 made notes on my phone of all your tips and recommendations so have a plan in place now to refer to so I stay on track and a maintenance plan.
Love a list and a plan !
Appreciate everyone’s help and please continue to check in as also want to be here to support you guys too with your MJ journey 😍
