Are weight loss jabs common with skinny people?

Friend of mine who I havent seen for three months has lost masses of weight. She was not at all overweight previously 8.5 stone and 5,3. I don’t know what she weighs now but she is much, much skinnier. I would say 1.5 stone less at a guess and she is truly film star/model skinny. She is in her 40s so I can’t imagine any flab would disappear super quickly without v dramatic measures, given she was slim to start with.
I hope it is healthy diet and exercise (and yes part of me is slightly jealous and would like to know the secret if it lets me drop 10 pounds!)
It did occur to me that it might be the jabs but didn’t know normal people could get them unless they were significantly over weight. Is this common? Honestly if there was no risk I would do it myself but don't think the health implications are worth it for the sake of half a stone or so.

So she is 7 stone at 5ft 3, is that healthy? They are meant to be prescribed for those over 30 BMI or 27 with conditions such as high blood pressure. So no, she wouldn't be able to get them prescribed (unless she was lying)

Agree with PP she would be able to get them legitimately but there is also a huge black market of these drugs.

My first thought wouldn't be weight loss injections, it would be ill health or an eating disorder. There's not legitimate way she could have obtained prescription medication for obese people. Does she seem like the sort of person who might buy prescription medication illegally or buy fake vials of unknown substances from dodgy sellers?

She is quite well connected so she might know clinics or doctors that might prescribe who are friends. She was a healthy weight when she started taking ( if that is the case).

Maybe it's stress related or she's unwell in some way?
I always lose weight if I'm really stressed as I feel nauseous

You could always ask her if she's your friend?!

I doubt random MNers would know. Confused

troppibambini6 · 02/03/2025 18:17

It might be jabs or it might be something else. She 100% be able to get jabs without being overweight. My friend gets them from a clinic that don't ask for any proof. She lied about her weight and they didn't check.

If she knows lots of dodgy pharmacists who like to risk their license and livelihood for a few quid and throw away the cost and experience gained over years of study then yes, she's probably on the jabs. As I suspect most prescribers value their jobs and have ethics I very much doubt it.

There's a thread similar to this on the main talk page on mn. People who have always been slim are now feeling uncomfortable that age /pregnancy has changed their flawless size 8 to be an average size 12 and are considering WLJ.

I find it interesting as someone who has been overweight all my life, that the moment someone is also overweight themselves, they can't stand it - it makes me wonder how fabulous being skinny really is, and if I'm honest, has spurred me on to try and experience it too.
