Mounjaro advice needed

Hi, I've lost 26 lbs since October on mounjaro.. I have had differing results week to week. No suppression, some suppression, side effects, no side effects. I have a week left of 10ml and I don't know whether to order again as I feel that, yes it's a great amount of weight, I just thought it would be more. Any advice greatly received.

What is your weight and bmi from start to now?
Do you have lots to lose? If so it may be worth staying on it for now and trying to make changes which those who follow tend to see better results with especially for health.
Drink lots of water throughout the day, eat higher protein and less carbs. On a plate the veg should be biggest part and then protein and carbs smallest. Some do low carbs and see results.
Tracking your calories is recommended as you can see your daily intake and how close you are to your deficit, which can be calculated using a TDEE online.
It is a lot more difficult to lose weight without a weight loss injection, most end up putting weight on if don't change historic poor food habits.

What's your TDEE and your calorie intake?

BeckyBloom · 01/03/2025 16:51

My TDEE IS 1800 and calorie intake is around 1500 but I haven't had full suppression, some weeks no food noise and other weeks thinking about food constantly. So some weeks my intake will be higher when I feel it's just not working for me then the next week I'm nauseous.

If your tdee is 1800, your deficit calories should be 1300 max a day just to lose 1lb a week. This is why you have lost slowly.

Yup, as PP says, you need to be down 3,500 kcal to lose a pound of body fat. so 300 a day, and less when you feel it's not working, would take you 12 days plus to lose a pound. Which is fine as long as you're willing to keep going at it. But if you want a faster rate of weight loss you've got to create a bigger deficit.

@BeckyBloom I started at the beginning of September and have lost around 35lb. Lots of people on these threads have lost 50lbs+ in a similar time-frame and some are pushing four or five stone. My weight loss has been slower in comparison but I'm relaxed about it. Losing too much weight too quickly has never been my intention. I've dieted lots of times in the past, going very low carb/high protein but I always put the weight on as soon as I stop. I'm using Mounjaro to help me with portion control but I'm eating the meals I cook for my family, just smaller portions with extra veg. For me, this is the only sustainable way, especially looking ahead to coming off the drugs.
I have had a few side effects - fatigue and excess wind, mostly - and they have also varied week on week. And suppression varies too. But I keep plodding on and thinking that if I wasn't on Mounjaro it's possible I'd be a stone heavier than my starting weight. I think what I'm trying to say is that I completely understand but 26lbs is a great loss and imagine where you might have been if you hadn't started.

I think you should go up dose every weeks as per guidelines, if no side effects and suppression is fading or not what you want it to be consistently.

I think the only reasons not to go up in dose are if you have bad side effects and/or if you already have very strong suppression or are unable to eat enough calories to maintain adequate nutrition and health.

Thank you everyone. I guess my real question was is it worth paying every month for limited results. I still have food noise but as you say it's still a good loss and I have ordered 12.5.
