15mg stall

MyAzureBear · 23/02/2025 23:05

Hey all. Got to 15mg after 6 months and it's done some great things for me. But recently my losses have totally stalled. I've had my largest losses on 15mg but things have changed now, I've not lost weight in 3 weeks. Calories are low at 1300 a day, can't feel like I can go any lower without becoming ill or losing even more of my hair!

Anyone else find this at 15mg?

Is that your weight on the right of the graph? In kilos or pounds? Where have you got the figure of 1300 from? I don't think 3 weeks is a stall. I think you need to be patient and trust the process. Weight is slower to go the closer to goal you are.

1300 is what calories I'm consuming.

The number on the Yaxis is my weight in KG.

Thing is though I'm obese and my target is 80kg!

Sorry I saw it was in kilos after I posted. Why are you on 1300? What's your TDEE?
Honestly I don't think you need to worry. 3 weeks isn't a long time. Weight loss isn't linear. As long as you're still in a calorie deficit you will lose weight. Be patient!

Zempy · 24/02/2025 08:27

FWIW I wouldn’t lose weight on 1300 calories and on MJ I would struggle to eat that much anyway.

Are you prioritising protein? Can you increase your activity levels?

I have had a plateau and it’s grim but you just keep going. Follow the process and the loss will come.

What's your TDEE? 1300 is guaranteed to be under your TDEE and nobody should be eating much less than that so if your suppression means you can't manage 1300 calories you're on too high a dose!

I worked out how old and short you'd have to be to have a TDEE of 1400 and be overweight, and it was 78 years old and about 4 feet tall. So it's not impossible, but very unlikely.

I don't think taller posters realise how much height makes a difference to tdee. Mine is calculated weekly and is currently at 1385 so I wouldn't be losing weight on 1300 at any pace. It's vital you calculate what yours is regularly and follow your own journey through peaks and troughs. It's a long haul and I've learnt to look at the total picture rather than worry about slowing down as it's inevitable. Work out what you need in terms of calories to lose weight and maximise nutrition within this limit and trust your body to lose weight over time.

Here you go - to be obese and have a TDEE of 1400 with a sedentary lifestyle you have to be no taller than 5 foot and 70 years old. If you're healthy weight (144lbs) and average height (5'4) then to get a TDEE of 1400 with a sedentary lifestyle you have to be 68 years old.

I acknowledge that there is a difference between being sedentary and immobile so of course some people are outliers but only a very small percentage.

Are you sure - you're not looking at your BMR are you?

I lost half a pound last week on about 1000-1100 calories a day. Everyone is on a different journey and it's one that isn't directly comparable with anyone else.

Finallydoingit24 · 24/02/2025 09:58

You’ve lost 42 kilos in 6 months which is an enormous amount to lose (and equal to about six and a half stone). It really won’t be linear, like others have said. It looks like you have about half left to lose so in total you are seeking to lose 12 stone or so which is bariatric surgery levels of weight loss and presumably about half of your starting weight. That isn’t just easily going to drop off the whole way through. You might need to give your body a break and have a couple of months resetting it by eating at maintenance and then starting again with the deficit and hopefully that will mean you start losing again.

MyAzureBear · 24/02/2025 11:07

I'm 5'11, and starting weight of 160kg. I'm at about 118 ish now. My TDEE is coming out at roughly 1600-1700 so I know I'm eating way under that. I try to pack the protein in.

Yeah stalls aren't new, but they are new for me on 15mg, I've had some Fantastic losses on it!

Finallydoingit24 · 24/02/2025 11:13

Even the manufacturers say that safe weight loss is about 0.5-1kg per week and your weight loss so far has far exceeded that. Your body needs a break.

Those TDEE calculations are a crock of shite. There is so much individual difference. Two people with the same profile will not utilise the same energy.

A study performed one that I read about has various participants. Some needed to be consuming 600-800 calories to lose weight.

Yeah it’s bollocks. My maintenance is 1326. I am disabled and spend significant amounts of time in a wheelchair. I also have a diagnosed metabolic disorder.

Millymollymine · 24/02/2025 16:34

I stalled like this - lost and gained the same pound for 3 - 4 weeks - I think my body just needed to reset - I broke it by upping my water and movement in week 4. I also had a couple of refeed days where I ate an extra 500 calories and ate some carbs. Since then my losses have been smaller eg 1/2 to 1 lb a week, but been steady. I am now on my 4th 15 injection.

Mysticmaiden · 24/02/2025 21:28

My maintenance is 1625 right now 5ft 3 11st 8lbs so my calorie deficit is 1125. I do have to eat less to lose weight than most unfortunately! I think some are looking at tdee as deficit, tdee is usually for maintenance

Sorry but I think you are looking at things with the wrong attitude. You have lost 42kg in 6 months.

Let that sink in. That’s huge. It’s completely normal to stall, let alone after losing that much weight. Like Christ, you have lost the weight of an entire person! Your body is bound to need a reset regardless of the dose.

To put it into context I have lost 22kg since August on MJ. You have lost twice as much in that time.

Realistically I think you need to come to terms with the fact you started the process being the weight you were so it will take time for you to lose 80kg. You have already lost weight at an extremely fast pace. I think you just need to let your body do its thing and see the stall through. There isn’t anything you can do to speed through this process.

eeeeeeeee · 25/02/2025 08:34

Also I’m also on 15mg and whilst I haven’t stalled per se, my weight loss is significantly slower. However I have already reached a healthy bmi - the more you lose, the slower your rate of future weight loss

Thank you. You make some great points. I guess I just get into my head about it all the time. I can really tell looking in the mirror. It's just an entire person has fallen off me!

If anyone is interested the app I'm using is DoseDiary, I find it so useful for tracking my injections and weight loss. The chart is quite customisable which is cool. One thing it does that I've not seen is that it offers tracking for positive side effects as well as negative ones.

It's a website but you can install to your phone with one click. Kinda happy it doesn't give any of my data to Google like others do.

@MyAzureBear there are threads for people with over 10st to lose or with higher BMI's.

I think that annoyingly weight loss often stalls for lots of reasons often your body needs some time to adapt. Have you tried increasing your activity levels as that can often help boost your metabolism. As long as you are eating in a deficit the weight will continue to come off. I've been on MJ for 20 weeks and I've lost 20kgs, 1kg a week. Recommended weight loss is 0.5-1.5kg a week you have been slightly above that.

I hate not losing big amounts each week and I also get frustrated that I still have 40kgs to go but it's really important to lose weight healthily.

unsync · 25/02/2025 16:25

I'm on 15. I stalled when I wasn't eating enough. I'm now at 1484 cals per day. I also started weight training in January. I lose about .5 kg a week. I've lost nearly 32 kg since I started. I just trust the process, it's slow, but I don't think that's a bad thing.

Thank you, I'll check them out! I haven't introduced exercise at all yet. I was hoping that maybe that's something I start when I get to target to help me maintain when I titrate down. Think maybe it was wishful thinking.
