I've noticed how my weight has fluctuated over the years, but it's been harder to maintain a healthy weight in recent years due to my PCOS. From 2023 to mid-2024, I lost 8kg.
I achieved this by weight training four times a week, walking 10,000–12,000 steps a day, and incorporating some cardio. I also ate in a calorie deficit.
I lost weight the "healthy" way. I felt great and confident, BUT it was not sustainable. I think I made a lot of progress physically, but then I spiralled into a depressive episode and regained even more weight.
I'm now the heaviest I've ever been—100kg. In November last year, I started training again and increasing my steps (two weight training sessions per week, 5,000–10,000 steps). I'm working my way up to three weight training sessions and 10,000 steps, but I'm taking my time. I believe this approach is more sustainable and will give me the mental space to enjoy my life outside of training—I really didn’t have much of a life beyond training and work. I realise now that this is not how I want to live, even for a short while.
I have always had issues with food, often bingeing, especially when triggered or stressed. When I followed a calorie deficit, I did it for too long (eight months—I see many coaches recommend 12 weeks at a time) and didn't ease out of it, which led to bingeing when I became depressed.
I think I'm approaching this weight loss journey with more insight into how to manage my time and training, plan my meals, and I'm also seeing a therapist.
To aid my weight loss, I decided to try Mounjaro—I think this will help me spend less time stressing about food and allow me to focus on being active and engaging in therapy. My plan is to use Mounjaro for three months, assess my progress, and then ease off.
My questions for any fellow weight loss peeps are as follows:
- Did you get rid of "food noise"?
- What are your go-to snacks when you're out and about or at work?
- Is there something you wish you'd known before starting Mounjaro?
- Has anyone with PCOS used Mounjaro? What’s your experience?
Thank you 💕
