Mounjaro - Week 1! Tips and advice??

I've noticed how my weight has fluctuated over the years, but it's been harder to maintain a healthy weight in recent years due to my PCOS. From 2023 to mid-2024, I lost 8kg.

I achieved this by weight training four times a week, walking 10,000–12,000 steps a day, and incorporating some cardio. I also ate in a calorie deficit.
I lost weight the "healthy" way. I felt great and confident, BUT it was not sustainable. I think I made a lot of progress physically, but then I spiralled into a depressive episode and regained even more weight.

I'm now the heaviest I've ever been—100kg. In November last year, I started training again and increasing my steps (two weight training sessions per week, 5,000–10,000 steps). I'm working my way up to three weight training sessions and 10,000 steps, but I'm taking my time. I believe this approach is more sustainable and will give me the mental space to enjoy my life outside of training—I really didn’t have much of a life beyond training and work. I realise now that this is not how I want to live, even for a short while.

I have always had issues with food, often bingeing, especially when triggered or stressed. When I followed a calorie deficit, I did it for too long (eight months—I see many coaches recommend 12 weeks at a time) and didn't ease out of it, which led to bingeing when I became depressed.

I think I'm approaching this weight loss journey with more insight into how to manage my time and training, plan my meals, and I'm also seeing a therapist.
To aid my weight loss, I decided to try Mounjaro—I think this will help me spend less time stressing about food and allow me to focus on being active and engaging in therapy. My plan is to use Mounjaro for three months, assess my progress, and then ease off.

My questions for any fellow weight loss peeps are as follows:

  • Did you get rid of "food noise"?
  • What are your go-to snacks when you're out and about or at work?
  • Is there something you wish you'd known before starting Mounjaro?
  • Has anyone with PCOS used Mounjaro? What’s your experience?

Thank you 💕

Did you get rid of "food noise"?

Yes, I don't think about food much at all, and can forget to eat if busy.

What are your go-to snacks when you're out and about or at work?

I don't snack, I eat at meal times only at the moment. I don't have any urge to snack.

Is there something you wish you'd known before starting Mounjaro?

No, I just wish I had found out about it sooner and started a few months before I did.

Has anyone with PCOS used Mounjaro? What’s your experience?

I don't have PCOS so no help to you there. I have seen people discussing it on threads here, who have found Mounjaro helps.

Thanks @SilenceInside ! 🙌

I'm hoping I get rid of the "food noise" too!

Hi
I’m on week 3 now and have lost 8lbs. I was a binge eater, I could eat a small breakfast and lunch and then binge eat in the evening. I don’t feel like binging now, I don’t have cravings for food the way I used to. I’ve had mild cravings around day 6 but have been eating small amounts of dark chocolate or a couple of dates. I was nervous about taking this after reading about side effects but I have had no side effects at all. I wish I had taken it sooner

Finallydoingit24 · 22/02/2025 17:58

I have been on it for close to five weeks now. I only take 2mg which is a microdose (as I am sensitive to side effects) but I have found it remarkably effective and far more effective than any other diet or weight loss regime I have ever done before.

in just under five weeks I have lost 8.4 kilos (18 and a half pounds). I eat about 1650 to 1700 calories a day. I might try to increase calories a little as that is quite rapid weight loss for my liking. I started at 87.8kg and am now at 79.4kg. I want to get down to 68kg.

in answer to your questions:

  • Did you get rid of "food noise"?
sort of. I am still hungry but I don’t get the urge to binge and in contrast to before, I can have a small portion of something sweet without eating loads (binge eating was a huge problem for me).
  • What are your go-to snacks when you're out and about or at work?
I like babybels but I don’t tend to snack much - I have three meals a day.
  • Is there something you wish you'd known before starting Mounjaro?
i wish I’d know about it sooner!
  • Has anyone with PCOS used Mounjaro? What’s your experience?
I don’t have PCOS but I did have issues with periods but I haven’t been on it long enough to see a real difference.
