I was on the pathway for bariatric surgery but have lost so much weight (7stone) on MJ that I have come off the list. I may live to regret it, who knows! 😆

Springsunflower · 20/02/2025 19:02

Did they know you were talking monjroro
I've lost 4 stone so far ,and only just mentioned it today ,so I'm a bit worried it may be a problem.
I also just can't see how I will keep it off once I finish monjroro,it's a battle even taking it ,so I know I don't stand a chance keeping the weight of after I finish on it

I was trying to get on our tier 3/4 list but they have closed the list to new referrals.

However I've been on MJ 6weeks now and am so impressed and really hoping this will work for me.

Realistically, I am happy to be on it long term if it means I can avoid life changing surgery.

CarBootQueef · 21/02/2025 07:23

I have my initial appointment with Tier 3 next month after waiting 2 years. I wasn't really wanting permenant surgery, more to see the dietician and get help but in our area you have to express a wish for surgery just to get on Tier 3.
It'll be interesting to see what they offer. I would be thrilled if they would offer the jab and support alongside but then also a little unsure as they may want me to come off it and try and work "naturally" with a dietician. I'm only 3 weeks in and it's another 4 week until my appointment so we will see what they say.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 21/02/2025 07:31

Our area doesn't offer the jabbon tier 3 u less you have 3 other serious conditions as well.

I have decided to order the jab privately as a last ditch attempt before surgery... But it's going well so far!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 21/02/2025 07:32

(so our area will give you surgery but won't give you wli!!)

I've not found mj as helpful as others seem to do ..I'm needing a lot of willpower to not over eat ,that I feel others are not experiencing.
I've been on tier 3 for 3 years

In my area it's two different waiting lists one for surgery one for injections..I'd of preferred one waiting list covering both ,then you choose which route when you get seen ,but in my area it's choose before you go on waiting list

I do have a couple of other Health issues such as high BP, knee pain etc so I'm hoping that will tip them over.
I have started Mounjaro myself and have lost a fair bit in the short time I've been on it but the cost alone would mean it wouldn't be viable as a long term option

Springsunflower · 21/02/2025 12:38

It is very expensive,I'm paying £200 a month for mine .

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 21/02/2025 13:17

@Springsunflower can I ask why it's costing you £200 a month? Most suppliers are cheaper than that.

hennybeans · 21/02/2025 13:21

Just curious op, how many mg is your dose of Mounjaro and how long have you been taking it that you're not finding it's working well for you?

Springsunflower · 21/02/2025 13:40

I'm with treated ,and that's what they charge.
I don't think it's much cheaper elsewhere,
I'm on 10 mg have been for 2 months ,been on it 5 months

SilenceInside · 21/02/2025 13:46

@Springsunflower is that a subscription service that you can't get out of? Nearly all the suppliers listed on https://monj.co.uk/discount-mounjaro-price-list/ are cheaper, and many are significantly cheaper. IQ Doctor are doing 10mg for £115.15 with a new customer discount for example.

Springsunflower · 22/02/2025 07:50

Cheers that's a helpful comparison chart
