How close is your end weight to your initial goal weight?

Sorry for the clunky title!

So when I started this journey I had a goal weight in mind of 64kg (which felt achievable). When I got there I still felt like I was carrying a lot of fat around my middle and thighs so wanted to continue.

I am now at 61.5kg which puts me at a BMI of 24 (I am 5ft 2in so quite short and apple shaped)

I still have stomach and thigh fat but other than a bit of overhang and wrinkle stomach skin from pregnancy, my stomach is looking so much better and I am toying with the idea of wearing a bikini on holiday!

I think I’d like to get to 60kg now which puts me at about a BMI of 23.5. I don’t want to start looking gaunt or lose what is left of my breasts (which still look decent for a woman in her 40’s I think 😂)

Ive only ever taken low doses so feel lucky at that and the weight came off and continues to come off slowly but easily.

So after that ramble, what did you stop at and is it close to what you thought you’d stop at?

I set off with a goal rang - 8.3-8.12 stone from a starting weight of 12.4. I’m short 5’ 1.5” and I come from a small family (relatives are in the low 7sts)

I surprised myself starting to think maybe I was done when I was around 9.4. It felt amazing. I was solidly size 10-12. I slowed to almost a stall before Christmas and was happy with my lot. I kept on medication as had been my plan through Christmas but stopped tracking food.
Come mid Jan I had settled at 8.12 which was for every diet, ever, my dream weight (somewhat arbitrarily- I think I just liked the idea of being in 8s). I’m still there. This is my weight. I love it. It’s only been a month so it’s very new. I’m a size 8-10. Am strong and healthy. It’s my aim to be here from now on. Wouldn’t dream of loosing more. Don’t want to go up (but know that I’m happy at 9.4 even if a whole clothes size up.)

@Beachcomber74

I'm up to 15mg now. Thinking about titrating back down to a maintenance dose, but want to see how I go for another month first.

These meds are an absolute miracle. We still have to put in the effort of diet and exercise but it makes it so much easier.

My tummy does stick out a bit, I put that down to diastasis recti that I'd never really noticed before because of all the fat! I do have a waist for the first time in long time though which is nice.
I have lost my boobs, they are empty sacks and I have a fair amount of loose skin which I'm sure you can image after 6.5 stone loss in my 40s. So naked, I look terrible, but with clothes on and the right underwear I'm very happy with my figure.

I think that is often due to exercise or lack of it.

my stomach is flatter than it’s ever been, but I clearly had an insulin resistance problem, even very slim my stomach was rounded, I’m still a stone off goal and my stomach is really flat.

I started at 88kg in June and now bobbing around 63 give or take. I'd like to be 60. At five feet1 this puts me in the healthy weight range. Atm my BMI of 26.3 is classed as overweight which is really quite ridiculous, I'm not but still have a large belly and thighs.

I am however having to go back to 2.5mg after a break in January when I had a bad dose of covid and came off my 10mg for a couple of weeks. I've been turned down by Med Express, my previous supplier as not meeting prescribing guidelines even though I have 4 qualifying underlying health conditions.

Ive been back and forth on email for days giving them proof of everything. Now they want me to go to a Gym and get weighed and send them the proof! I don't know why getting weighed in a gym is any different then weighing at home and photographing it. Their customer service is unbelievably poor at the moment.

It’s mad to me how desperate some folks are to buy from med express. Just buy from someone else, plenty offer the same price as their discounted price.

pippapumpkin · 21/02/2025 20:51

I started at 112kg, currently at 87kg and aiming for 70kg which puts me just in healthy BMI range. Aiming for the top end of the healthy range because I’ve been fat for so long I can’t even imagine my body going any smaller than that. But when I get to 70 I think I might try and drop a tiny bit more just as a buffer so that one large dinner doesn’t put me back in the overweight category! I’m just about to hit being in the overweight range (bmi just slightly over 30) and even that feels bloody fantastic after being obese for so long.

It is because I am now sub BMI 30 which makes it virtually impossible to get it from a supplier you've not been with previously and I had some referral credit to use up. Have you tried to switch suppliers just on the cusp of 27 bmi ?

No it’s not, you can switch all the way down to 23-19, pharmacy dependent. As long as you can send a snagit of the last prescription or image of rhe box, they accept you. It’s no biggie.

And yes, my bmi is now 25 and I’ve switched.

I had to.jump through the same hoops with Curate, who have prescribed me before. They have approved me but its taken nearly 3 weeks and they wanted a proof of previous prescription, photos on scales taken at several different angles and proof of underlying health conditions and I've had to restart at 2.5.

Who did you switch to and what evidence did they ask for ?

My starting weight was 120kg and initial absolute dream goal was 75kg although I only really expected to get to 80-85kg.

I'm currently, 11 months in, hovering around 72-73kg and feel like I'm about done. Maybe down to 68-70kg but if I can stay where I am now long term I will be thrilled.

Body is completely haggard but I honestly don't care. My health and fitness are through the roof and I feel fabulous.

Similar, I was just over 20 stone, now lost half of me

Body looks like beige swag curtains but I dont care, I feel amazing.

My initial goal was around 13 stone, thats what I told my bariatric surgeon. Then as time went on I thought why am I underselling myself, why am I aiming for a weight that would result in me still being in the obese category, and I decided I wanted to make sure my BMI was under 24. Its hovering at that now, I got down to 9.13 and am now 10.5 because of xmas and some holidays so its getting back down again after being around 11 stone just before xmas.

The bariatric nurses caution against sitting at too high a weight, like 11 stone is too high for me, she advised me to sit at around 10 stone.

coffeeabdteav · 22/02/2025 07:29

My goal weight was lower than my current goal. I wanted to be the weight I was in my 20's.
As a 45 year old I realised a stone above was perfectly fine and I am not 20 anymore. Also less hangy gaunt skin than if I lost another stone.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 22/02/2025 10:26

@butterfly0404 Oushk and Pharmulous will both take patients under bmi 25 (and I think Cloud as well!) so long as you can provide proof of previous prescriptions. Give them a call and ask🤷‍♀️

Happyearlyretirement · 22/02/2025 10:56

My goal eight was 9 stone 2 as that was a 4 stone loss, when I reached it I still had a weight round my middle and went onto 8 stone 4, I’m 57 and super toned all over as I also became a regular gym goer and runner, love my new body and can’t wait to wear a bikini on holiday. I think it’s genetic if you have loose skin my friend lost 7 stone in a year on slimming world and has no loose skin.

MJqueen · 22/02/2025 20:18

@soupyspoon

My BMI 25 is around 73kg so I'm wary that I'm still at the top end but realistically if I went much lower I'd look silly.

Trying now to get my body fat % to a lower number, it's still 32% which is obese so if I can work on dropping that then great. My weight will go down but that's a secondary benefit rather than the goal.

MJconfessions · 23/02/2025 06:27

What you need to do is weigh yourself on proper scales that tell you what your body fat percentage is. It seems like your body fat is still high, which is why you feel like although your BMI is “healthy”, you aren’t where you want to be visually. BMI alone does not tell the full picture.

Someone your height/weight would look completely different at 20% body fat vs 30% body fat for example. It’s not about your overall weight.

Personally I started off with a BMI of 32 and my BMI is now 22. In terms of weight, I initially wanted to lose a couple of kg more; but now more importantly I just want to tone up and bring my body fat % down. It’s currently 27% which is not great. Building muscle will naturally increase how much I weigh, which is why I’m not so fussed about whether I lose the last few kg. If I remain the same weight but am able to build muscle and lose body fat, that’s a win. I would therefore look more lean and slim, at the same weight and BMI.

I don't think it's as impossible as you say whilst your bmi is still close to 30. Try this provider
