Stinging injection site

Not sure if anyone else has this but if I inject on left side of tummy it doesn't hurt at all but the right side always feels really stingy! I had to change site twice today before I could do it. I do the same thing on both sides, pinch the fat etc. I don't want to alternate sides any more but I know you have to because you can get a build up of tissue. Just wonder why this could be

Have you tried without pinching the fat? It isn't in the instructions to pinch, so could help. (I hope you changed needles each time you changed site too.)

On the Voy website it says to pinch the fat so I thought that's how you were meant to do it- that's how I always did IVF injections too. Didn't change the needle though 😵‍💫 I just pricked the surface in two places and it stung so tried again and it was fine. Maybe it's the angle I was doing it at? I do remember the same thing with IVF but I got DH to do it in the end so maybe I'm just crap at injecting myself 🙈

The paper instructions that came with the medication are the ones from the manufacturers, they don't instruct or show in the pictures to pinch. The image just shows the pen injecting straight on, not angled at all. So maybe it is the angle that you're doing it. Or maybe you just have a particularly sensitive spot on that side. You could try numbing it with an icepack before you inject next time.

@joyouslady No need to pinch the fat, or to angle them, these needles are short and designed go in straight at a 90 degree angle. Also never re use a needle, if you withdraw it, put a new one on, re prime the new needle, & try again. Whereabouts on the abdomen are you doing it? It might be you’ve just found a sensitive spot.

Thank you for the advice all. I'm due on this week so perhaps I'm just extra sensitive around the time of the month

I didnt ever had stinging but I always bruised badly when injecting into my stomach, so for the last few months I jab my thighs. I always alternate every week and have no pain or bruising. Might be worth a try

Definitely don’t pinch - that tightens the skin and will hurt more. I don’t know what you mean by having had to change the site twice though. Surely you jab it in and push it down - takes 5 seconds. Did it hurt so much you couldn’t do this? That sounds odd.

Some places I can feel the needle some I can’t but it never hurts so much I can’t do it….
