Wegovy paradox

Hi all,
This might sound strange but I’ve been on wegovy for a month now, on the lowest dose but haven’t lost ANY weight. Part of the reason why is because when I feel nauseous, eating makes the nausea go away! Has anyone else experienced this? Feel like giving up but know I won’t ever lose the weight then 😪

It’s very early days! Give your body a chance to get used to it and get to a therapeutic dose. But also, have a look what it is you eat when you feel nauseous- I was the same and needed to eat regularly, but I made sure it was nutrient rich rather than the usual sugary fatty rubbish I used to eat all the time.

You're nowhere near the therapeutic dose. Some people do respond to the lower levels but that is unusual. It kicks in for most people around the 1 mg mark.

Yes, this is me exactly! I'm on a bit of a bumpy road with Wegovy because of it and a physically demanding job where I need to eat regularly.

The first dose isn't therapeutic, it's to get your body adjusted so you don't get violently ill. Weight loss may kick in at 0.5mg but more typically 1.0mg and some not until the max dose of 2.4.

About 20% of users are non-responders for weight loss, but that determination is only made if you don't respond to the top dose.

When I first started MJ my acid reflux increased and in the past eating normally helped it.

Eating past being hungry as a habit/compulsion aggravated the reflux.

Smaller/more frequent meals helped. Bland/protein based foods - lean meat/greek yoghurts/eggs. Plenty of water. Perhaps experiment with an electrolyte drink to see if it helps but don't overdo them.

Give it some time to let you body get used to it, and try to change to eating when hungry rather than habit. Speak to your local pharmacist, they can prescribe something for anti-sickness that might help through the first few weeks.

Good luck.

The tip I had was to use a PPI (lansoprazole, esomeprazole, etc). I had a really miserable experience on Ozempic and had to switch to Mounjaro (I have diabetes). I do believe it helped. Some people also swear by probiotics.

Try looking at what you eat - if I eat greasy or carb which food I feel more sick. If I eat protein rich or veggies, it'll keep the nausea at bay better.

I've also added in reflux medication which helps.

Thank you for the feedback everyone and good luck
