I couldnt see a thread on this (albeit I didn't scroll back too far) but thought it may be a useful one to have for those considering starting weight loss injections

I'm currently the heaviest I've ever been and I have young children and really struggle to not survive on sugar. Food noise in the evenings is awful. I see a therapist and discuss the whys, but I also think weight loss injections would help me in the long run.

I'm going to spend some time researching side effects both short and long term, cost, what happens when you want to stop the injections.

Does anyone want to join me?

Also please no referral codes/ offers for referrals here.

If you do decide to start on the jabs (and I’m a few months in now) all I’d say is join one of the month starters threads, I’ve found it really helpful and motivating, very supportive and kind over on the one I’m on.
I guess in terms of side effects it was what had put me off starting for so long but I’ve been very fortunate in that for the most part, other than feeling chilly a lot of the time, I’ve been absolutely fine and forget I’m on it day to day.
i’ll not post again as this isn’t really a thread for me as I’m already taking them but just wanted to point you in the direction of a resource I’ve found really great if you decide to go down the injection route.

@TheChosenTwo thank you that's helpful advice, a support group is a good idea.

Like thechosentwo I am a few months in and agree with her helpful advice. I also found it really useful to read the old monthly starter threads to get an idea of their journey from the beginning.
Good luck whatever you decide, my only regret is not starting it sooner.

I'm going to be starting a week Monday as got to wait until I get paid . January being one of those months.
I've done all the reading I can and still ummmming about who to go with have given myself a deadline of Wednesday to decide who to use. Have you made a decision @Unsureurchin on who to use ?

YouBelongWithMe · 09/02/2025 20:50

I'm in the same place as you.

I'm the biggest I've ever been and hate it.

My mum started this week and I'm watching with baited breath.

Really think I might take the plunge.

AndCallMeNancy · 10/02/2025 09:32

I’m thinking of taking the plunge too! I need to lose 2-2.5 stones, I’m not hugely overweight but I’m the biggest I’ve ever been and cannot seem to shift the pounds. I get such food cravings and eat big portions, left overs etc etc. I’m peri-menopausal and messed about with my pill last summer which made me gain almost a stone in a matter of weeks!

Something has got to change and I am now seriously considering giving this a go but feels like such a big step. BMI is 29-30 so hopefully I’ll be approved if I do choose to make the leap. Part of me thinks I just need to go for it but I am a bit scared!

insomniaclife · 10/02/2025 09:39

I'm scared too. But heavier than ever. I bloody loved being three stone lighter ... the energy, the self confidence. Now? Inert miserable and fed up.

But scared ... hate hate nausea!

BLOODY GET IT ORDERED!!

It’s going to potentially change your life in ways you never imagined.

Think of it as a tool to become the person you know you are, healthy, happy and optimistic.

It’s not a magic wand though because you have to commit to long term lifestyle changes, it will help you make them and break a lot of the invisible ties that may have held you back from losing and maintaining in the past.

Do your due diligence and learn from the learning curves of others, eat nutritious meals, no junk food, no fizzy drinks, plenty of water, move more etc. It’s a marathon not a sprint so go in with a long term mindset rather than wanting to be in a size 6 bikini by Easter.

Good luck! 🥳

When you say the heaviest you've ever been, do you mean a BMI of over 30?

Only reason I ask is there have been a number of people posting about wanting to start WLI who clearly have an eating disorder and very low BMIs so just want to be sure we're not encouraging you to do something harmful.

My BMI is touching 30. No eating disorder here and never has been. A healthy weight for me is around 10 stone but I’m currently 12 stone 10, weight gain has been steady over last few years despite all my attempts to eat healthily.

Anyway I have bitten the bullet and placed an order with MedExpress. Sent in weight and height and a photo so let’s see what they think…

I really want to start but have been totally put off by DP's experience- he's had dreadful side effects and had to stop after 3 doses of 2.5.

Really grim - severe stomach pains, diarrhoea, feeling sick, dizzy. He's not a moaner at all and usually gets on with things when he's unwell - but this has floored him.

I'm too scared to take it myself now!

Oh no, that does sound grim and can understand why you are out off.

I’ve just had my prescription approved tho so I am doing this. I am nervous but I really hope it works for me.

myladyjane · 10/02/2025 18:12

The thing with side effects seems to be that they are personal. For example I have actually seen an improvement in my heartburn as I'm triggered by bread and don't really eat it on mj. I do get quite sicky but nothing so bad and it's a sign I've eaten too fast. I got an upset tummy for a day and a half which was pretty awful but it moved on and nothing since.

You could be totally fine, some not great bits which can be managed (I put myself here) or floored like your husband bless him. You won't know until you give it a try. And you can always stop.
