Hi!

I'm in week 4 of my journey, and have told my close friends about being on WLI. Yesterday one of them commented to me "You don't want to lose too much weight though- your face will look funny". I know it was meant from a good place, but they also know how I have battled obesity my whole life, and my desire to be fit and healthy, and in a "normal" weight range, and I know as I lose more, I will have these comments from people who have never experienced being like me, but feel entitled to tell me how I should look.

It had me wondering what you all have had to deal with from colleagues or even friends and family, when they notice your losses. What have been your experiences?

Mine all comment, a lot, but it is all positive, the wow you look great type. Friends, family, colleagues. I’ve not had anything negative. However, only my best friend, husband and daughter know, as well as gp. Everyone else doesn’t know I use wli.

I would imagine they were commenting based on their knowledge of WLI which probably limited to media coverage focusing on the aesthetic aspects of celebs who have lost weight rather than being aware of your concerns over your actual health.

I thankfully don't have anyone in my life that is that would be more concerned about my looks over my health, if I did I would probably would struggle to refrain myself from directly delving into their intentions with that comment.

I've had lots of comments but they've all been positive. They've also all been only within the last three months or so - certainly the first six months where I lost the most, no one noticed. Now every time someone sees me they seem shocked. I have to tell them I've been on this journey for over a year, it's only just become noticeable.

I've been told I'm 'glowing' by a lot of people (I think the extra water has improved my skin) and that I look 'incredible'. It's all very nice, but I don't really enjoy the scrutiny, tbh. It makes me uncomfortable. It also makes me feel very guilty when people say I've inspired them to make changes themselves.

I don't know what I'd say if people told me to stop because they don't like the way I'm starting to look. Presumably if I'm reaching a healthy weight, it's the way I'm supposed to have looked all along. Not a lot I can do about that, they'll just have to adapt.

Don’t worry OP - they’re just thinking of the articles they’ve read in the Daily Mail and Take a Break - ‘Ozempic face’.

One things for certain, you don’t get Ozempic Face being obese. 💪🏼

I've lost 5 stone and noone has noticed yet! From a size 20 to a 14. Only my partner knows tho and I WFH so rarely see people. My hairdresser noticed in November and I just said thanks, I'm Trying
