Did you speak to a GP before starting?

I'm seriously considering weight loss injections. I've always been big and have lost weight a few times before through diet and exercise but this time, I just can't seem to focus.

I don't have a huge amount of interaction with my GP and was thinking about speaking with them about weight loss. Did any of you do this and are they happy to recommend weight loss injections even if you're buying them privately?

Yes, she said they're not tested enough and they've got lots of known complications.

I ignored her and went private.

(I was there for another matter)

My friend, who's a doctor, said the same. Later complimented me on how great I was looking without knowing I was taking it! I think they only see and hear about the people who've had issues.

No, because I'd rather not be taking up a GP appointment for something that I don't meet the current NHS prescribing criteria for (although I have a hefty BMI - was over 50 when I started, I'm really remarkably healthy for the size of me apart from creaky joints).

Happy for the surgery to know and to discuss it with me if they see the need - but considering our surgery doesn't even do weight for new patients (they send you to the local pharmacy for that to be done) - they weren't that interested really.

@Shrinkingrose I was surprised tbh as usually my doctors are very good.

But luckily I ignored her and here I am 4 stone lighter and feeling so much healthier.

I did. He said that he wished that he could prescribe it but apart from high blood pressure everything else is good. He did blood tests and referred me to the gym for 6 months. BMI was over 50, and I've lost over 6st since May.
