@Goinghome24 I know what you mean. Previously, I have bought keto friendly breads, but they cost a fortune and it really isn't sustainable long term. On MJ, I don't crave bread, which is an eye opener, as it is my number one favourite food of all time - so that is a relief.
I occasionally allow myself a handful of frozen blueberries for a fruit fix, or raspberries (lovely with double cream of greek yoghurt) with cinnamon sprinkled on top (I add it to my daily carb count).
I have found the fats to be no problem whatsoever re digestive issues. I introduced a probiotic early on, so I think that helped my gut adjust.
I find keto difficult to maintain in the long term - mainly due to it being very difficult to eat out/grab a quick supermarket lunch kind of thing. It takes a lot of work, cooking from scratch, etc. On MJ it is easier, as the weight loss (which is more regular and consistent, for me anyway) is a huge motivation and keeps me on track.
I try to use damage limitation when I eat out and choose the keto-friendly options when I need to grab something quick (cooked chicken, prawns, boiled eggs). Apart from M&S and sometimes the Co-op, the other supermarkets salads are full of carbs (pasta, rice, grains or potatoes). Very frustrating.
Anyway, my main aim is to get the weight off, but I know I also need to think about a sustainable way of eating in the long term, and keto seems the closest thing that I would be able to adopt when I am off weight loss injections. I am not really a great believer in calorie deficits, etc which I know goes against the grain on Mumsnet. For me, it is all about altering your set point, tackling insulin resistance and incorporating fasting for health.
