Will Mounjaro help a 'grazer'?

Hello! I've just ordered my first dose so will be starting shortly. I was just wondering if anyone on here has found it to be helpful in curbing a grazing eating pattern? I've seen a lot about how helpful it is with binge eaters but that's the opposite of me - I can barely ever finish a 'normal' sized meal let alone binge, yet over the course of a day I'll easily eat a share bag of chocolates/tube of Pringles/punnet of grapes/equivalent of multiple bowls of ice cream or yoghurt etc just by having a couple of mouthfuls at a time all day long 😬

Keen to know if anyone with a similar eating pattern has had success on Mounjaro? For me it's not so much 'hunger' or even really greed per se, more a kind of habit/compulsion...

I had very similar eating patterns. I find it difficult to eat 'properly' still but have no interest in grazing either, so now have to make a conscious effort to eat even if I'm not hungry.

Thanks! That sounds hopeful 🤞

I'm the same. Generally a constant "picker" at food but small meals! Since beginning, I feel as if Ive forgot I want to eat, I have to set myself specific meal times or it gets to midday and I haven't eaten a thing!

Yes! Definitely. I was very much a grazer and had started to fall into the trap of finishing off DC’s leftovers at dinner whilst clearing. All gone. I can’t finish my own meals let alone someone else’s.

IDontHateRainbows · 31/01/2025 07:07

Absolutely. I used to snack and graze continuously. Now I mainly have 2 meals a day and that's it

What's your plan though? MJ is just a tool to assist in weight loss. You should also be overhauling your eating and exercise routines so that once you have reached target weight, you don't regain. You can't just rely on it to sort out your grazing, you need a strategy.

I think when people talk about food noise this is what they mean - I just no longer think constantly about what I could eat.
But it’s maybe a little worrying that you already can’t eat a full meal before starting - have you checked that out with a GP?

I am a picker. Just started week 3 so still only on 2.5 and I haven't really picked at all. I was a shocker for nicking a left over chip or a spoonful of ice cream but nope.

I do get hungry for my meals though. Just not bothered in between.

Thanks everyone! Getting excited now 😅

@unsync I've also joined a gym and have already stopped buying any crap snacky stuff - so I'm still grazing but more on fruit and veg etc. I am hoping that mounjaro will help reset my relationship with food but I'm not totally reliant on it.

Tbh this grazing has only become a really major problem since COVID and WFH full time (with the fridge and cupboards just there!) so I'm hoping our current phased return to the office will also help!

Yes, it will cut out the food noise - just make sure you drink plenty of water and make sure you are having 3 meals a day, balanced and nutritious, even if they are small. It's easy to 'forget' to eat when you are on MJ and thats when complications can arise

I used to graze all evening, after eating breakfast and lunch. I'd start thinking about what was in the cupboard and be unable to resist going and having a bit.

In an attempt to improve my rheumatoid arthritis I stared overnight fasting, not allowing myself to eat anything between 7 in the evening and breakfast the next day.

Don't know if it will work for you or if I'm just a bit weird, but I found that when I really fancied a bit of something in the evening I told myself I could still have it, but not just now. I'd resolve to have whatever it was after breakfast the next day, which somehow made it possible to postpone the treat.

Except it turned out that after breakfast I was rarely in the mood to snack, so most times I didn't bother. The only downside was that I discovered it is possible for sealed bags of marmite crisps to go stale if you leave them at the back of the cupboard for 6 months past their sell by date. I now buy those packets of shortbread where each piece is individually wrapped too, because it turns out that open packets of biscuits also go stale and a bit soggy if you leave them for a year.

I now happily fast between 4 pm and 10 am, (but still somehow scoff 3 meals and 1800 calories in those 6 hours). It's quite relaxing to be able to switch off for the evening, give my guts a rest, and sip mugs of mint and chamomile tea instead of constantly grazing.
