Why am I not losing weight?

Wondering if anyone would mind giving me their thoughts as I'm feeling a bit deflated.
I've been using 2.5ml of MJ for three weeks with a SW of 25 stone. In the first week, I stayed the same all week until weigh in day when the scale oddly showed 24 st 1lb.
I thought that was a bit strange to plummet so suddenly and wondered if the scales were dodgy. I have not moved from this weight since that day 2 weeks ago but I am 100% I have lost a good chunk of weight - I can see and feel it. In terms of lifestyle changes I have dropped from about 3500 calories a day to 1400 and gone from approx 60 units of alcohol a week (I know) down to 15. Additionally I'm doing 30 mins brisk walk every evening on the treadmill. I feel absolutely fantastic and am super motivated - literally no desire to "cheat" or quit.
Any thoughts?

Thanks all, I really appreciate the insights and recommendations. I'm going it get myself decent scales and a tape measure for sure, and plan what I'm eating better to ensure the right balance. I'm almost entirely UPF free and logging everything on MyFitnessPal, so think I'm onto a good start.
I take the poster's point about the alcohol but having dropped all weeknight drinking, I'm afraid my bottle of wine over the weekend is a non-negitiabke to get me through the week!!!

Op, honestly that’s a good idea, get decent scales, and as long as you factor in the calories of the wine (generally about 600) it is fine.

also you’ve not plateaud unless your cals over the week averaged are much more than you think and at maintence level. I think some folks have issues with alcohol or don’t understand biology. Just get some good scales, weigh on a hard surface and weigh on that exact same spot every time you weigh.

Do you find alcohol taste the same though now and gives you the same effect? It doesn't do anything for me at all and I loved having a glass of wine in the evening. I couldn't be bothered now even if one was poured and by my side.

I use MyNetDiary, it's much better than mfp. Put all your stats in and it will tell you how much you should be eating and the balance between, carbs/fats/protein.

I've lost 4.5 stone so far, but when I dropped my calories too much, I stopped. The app was telling me to eat more, so I am now at 1600 calories a day and I've started losing again.

Also, you have only just started, so it's going to take time. I've been going since March last year and lose about 2kg a month. Be patient, you didn't become obese overnight, you're not going to lose it overnight either.

I would also suggest dumping the alcohol and finding something else that isn't food or drink to 'get you through' or address the thing that is actually causing that need.

My strategy to avoid disappointments is to weigh myself monthly, and ideally after my period.

So much can happen on a weekly basis from constipation to periods to the scales not playing ball and hydration levels and hormones all fluctuating. I find it v depressing and stressful to see gains or no losses on the scale, so I simply make sure I only weigh myself once every 4 weeks. Occasionally I get super curious and weigh in at 3 weeks, or manage to restrain myself and hold off til 5 weeks! The longer you leave it, the bigger loss you'll see and that is really motivating!

Weigh yourself less often is my tip!!

If you're exercising for the first time it may be that you are losing fat but developing muscle. Whilst muscle doesn't weigh more than fat it is denser so you can feel slimmer but weigh the same.

Only elite athletes can build muscle in this short time, and even then likely the men.

really. It’s not she’s built so much muscle it’s offset fat loss.

It's extremely difficult if not impossible to build new muscle in a calorie deficit. Nobody on mounjaro is building muscle.

This is factually incorrect, building muscle and on a cal deficit, and on mounjaro is completely possible, as long as you prioritise protein, ensure you get the right macros and do resistance training,

as muscle is denser than fat it would mean slow losses, as you build muscle and lose fat, but to say no one on mounjaro is doing that is completely nonsense.

Greyrockin · 29/01/2025 11:49

@InkHeart2024 are you actually taking WLI?

Yes
in relation to building muscle whilst in calorie deficit, it's potentially possible with a deficit of 500 calories or less, but as mounjaro users are likely to have a much bigger deficit that is not likely. Those using mounjaro and following a carefully planned diet and training programme under a trainer might develop a small amount of new muscle but it is extremely difficult and unlikely for the average user.

Sure, no one disputes that, it was your claim no one on mounjaro was building muscle. That is not a correct statement.

Fair, I meant no average Jo(sephine) on mounjaro who is in a big calorie deficit and doing an average amount of low to medium impact exercise is building muscle. I was being hyperbolic. But it's repeated by so many people on the WLI boards as a suggestion as to why people might not be losing as much as they expected, and it's just not true in 99.9% of times.

Yes I agree, and am also surprised at how many people seem to think building muscle is so simple and quick.
