I have been on mounjaro since the middle of October, and it that time have lost just over 3 and a half stone.
After a horrendous night of vomiting and diarrhoea, (the second in three weeks) I think I have decided I can’t do this anymore.
i ve gone from a bmi of 37 to a bmi of 27.8. I think to get to a healthy weight I d need to lose another stone or so, but to be at a weight I’d be happy it’s around another 5 pounds.

Can anyone advise if they have managed to lose the last bit of weight on their own? I haven’t really been exercising beyond walking due to the nausea, so hope I will be able to increase the intensity of my exercise. I m just so worried I m going to put the weight straight back on, but I just can’t manage the side effects any longer 😟 please advise

Yes I would say even after day 3 it feels a bit better. So this morning it’s day 4 and I ve woke up feeling pretty normal - no nausea at all. Yesterday I woke up with the nausea which lasted all day.
Perhaps I should try even lower than 2.5 next week - like a 1.25 and see if that makes a difference.
I m so desperate to not put the weight back on, but balancing that against feeling so sick all the time is so hard.

Give it a try to see if it helps, and you can start with exercise etc Joe wicks body coach is great and free on YouTube. I have his app but haven't used since starting mj 4 months ago. Before that I did the workouts and lost 2kg in 5 weeks without even changing what I ate. I'm eating a lot better since on mj.

Yes I think this would be helpful - getting back into the swing of some regular exercise. That will help regardless of when I stop the jabs, whether that’s next week or if I can continue until I reach a healthy bmi.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts - it’s definitely made me look at things a bit different. As a fellow scientist (chemist as well) I m really annoyed I didn’t think of it myself. 😂

Lovely to speak to you. We are a rare breed! It's ok, there's so much going on with the body so it can be complex thinking about what is affecting us in a situation. I'm a biomedical scientist, upto a manager now. Hope you resolve the situation. Please post back if you do.

Therealmetherealme · 26/01/2025 10:52

Just to add, have you used the Shotsy app? There's a free version. It's interesting to look at the estimated blood levels, as the levels will slowly increase in your blood over the weeks. It may help find your limit. If you need to stop then do, but you're only maintain your weight if you have changed habits and can eat less calories than before.

Mysticmaiden2024 · 26/01/2025 10:55

I use it, its great. For me when it drops below 5mg is when I start feeling the hunger and food noise.

Slibberydibbery · 26/01/2025 20:01

Do try the longer period before injecting and please update if this has an impact. Hopefully you’re able to stay onboard to reach your goals OP.

WhineAndWine1 · 26/01/2025 20:04

It sounds like rapid emptying or dumping syndrome. I had it few times on 7mg. You need to make sure you are having fiber rich foods, not drinking too much when eating, smaller and more frequent meals oh and make sure you're chewing properly.

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 26/01/2025 21:36

It's a very powerful drug, some people have had strong results nn micro doses. My own DH pricked his finger on my first jab when disposing of the needle and had reduction in food noise for several days.

I had awful side effects moving up to 3.75 last week. I've injected in the back of the arm this week, tomorrow will be the day I find out if it made a difference to reduce the nausea and stomach effects. If not I'll go down to 3mg and try again.

Good luck

It’s interesting that you’ve mentioned dumping syndrome which is also something that can happen to those who’ve had weight loss surgery.

Just to update with a small one.
i woke up this morning in absolute agony with my stomach (right up high in the middle of the ribs where the ribcage curves upwards) so i went to see my GP. It was really helpful as she was also taking mounjaro so i didnt have to do a whole lot of explaining. However she has advised me to stop taking it for now due to the pain, and ordered bloods and a scan.
I definitely hadn’t eaten anything to trigger this pain, and it appears to be soothed by small amounts of yoghurt which reminds me of gastritis I had a few years ago.
I m gutted to have to stop but I think it has been the last straw for me today.
Thanks for everyone’s advice, and pray for me that I don’t pile the weight back on!

I am sorry about that @Tgilaura. I hope it is nothing serious.

Winter2020 · 28/01/2025 16:19

Yes sorry to hear that OP.

I have been listening to some very inspiring health based podcasts on you tube where Stephen Bartlett (of Dragon's Den) interviews experts (the channel is called Diary of a CEO if you want uo check it out) - anyway the evidence is that while exercise doesn't help you lose weight it really helps it terms of keeping it off. So if you are able to schedule regular exercise or build a lot of activity into your day it will be a big help.

Tohaveandtohold · 28/01/2025 16:37

@Winter2020 , I was also listening to the same podcast yesterday. I’ve always been exercising and before MJ, didn’t really lose weight. Now that MJ has helped me to lose the weight , I can see how beneficial it’ll be to continue exercising, to keep the weight off, give structure and also build muscles, etc. which is what I plan to keep doing.

@Tgilaura I’m sorry you’re having such a tough time currently and it’s best you stop as advised by your GP. Not everyone can continue on MJ for one reason or the other but hopefully, you’ll be able to work out the best way for you try and not pile it back on.

curious79 · 28/01/2025 16:40

Try something like the Human Being diet. You MUST have sorted out your diet and bad habits before coming off otherwise it'll pile back on

Quitelikeit · 28/01/2025 22:31

Op

i was having dreadful side effects and I stopped for two weeks to enjoy Xmas - I was absolutely dreading going back on it but I did and have rarely had any issues so maybe a little break is what you need

Tgilaura · 29/01/2025 07:00

Morning all. Just to say the pain passed over 24 hours and I m able to eat again now without the pain or side effects. However I still think I m going to take a break at least, I would like a bit of time without the nausea.
It will also be interesting to see if I maintain the same diet if I start putting the weight back on!

Twiglets1 · 29/01/2025 07:47

Good news @Tgilaura and hope you are able to maintain a healthy diet and continue to lose weight but in a different way

BackToWegovy · 29/01/2025 07:51

Good luck @Tgilaura . Hope you maintain but if not do consider Wegovy - it is a different drug and you may react differently to it.
