Disappointed weigh in this week

I have been on mounjaro since end of August 2024 and so far have lost 3 stone 3lbs. It's mainly been 2lb a week losses with some bigger losses and some weeks where I stay the same.

This week I have walked and walked everywhere, significantly increasing my step count and lots of the walks were challenging and very steep inclines. I have also increased my actual workouts and been swimming all whilst eating less then my daily calories - this was done naturally I have eaten when hungry and never go below 1500 cals a day as still have a way to go

However this week I haven't lost anything - stayed the same as last week! I was sure I would have lost 2-4 lbs

I know it can happen, I just assumed as I have definitely burnt more than put in consistently across the whole week I would definitely see a loss

4 lbs of fat in a week would be an enormous amount. Can I ask your weight and tdee?

happygertie · 23/01/2025 08:38

I currently weigh 19st 10 and my TDEE is roughly 2605 and my calorie intake is set at 1623

I have prior weeks of losing 4lbs and some weeks only 1lb to 2lb, typically the more active I am the more I lose and I assumed this week I would have a big loss as I have been very active all week.

Ok, that deficit if you’re correct on both sets of numbers averaged over a week would give you a 2 lbs weight loss, which indicates it is just water retention.

weight loss is not linear.

I am having a similar issue. Never eating over 1500 calories a day and not really losing anything now.

InfoSecInTheCity · 23/01/2025 09:00

It's the exercise. In a week you'll see the benefit but right now you need to up your water and make sure you have a rest day between exercise sessions.

If you are noticing any muscle soreness then that's because doing workouts causes tiny tears in the muscle. It's by design and allows the muscle to grow and develop but that process uses a lot of water to heal. While it's doing that you retain what you have to aid the process. The solution is to drink more and rest so the process can happen.

I think I do need more water - I typically drink 2ltrs a day and have electrolytes but as I have become more active I haven't increased my water intake. I have had a rest between workouts, but not my walks- I look forward to them everyday and just need to get out the house and walk. This time last year I couldn't of walked up a slight hill now I am up and down steep hills for fun (I live in a very hilly area) so I know what I'm doing is good for me i just wish there was the visual reward of the number on the scales dropping too.

I always forget to drink after swimming too as it isn't a form of exercise where I get to warm and sweaty I forget that it can still dehydrate me

You'll catch up, read through all the MJ Threads and you'll see hardly anyone consistently loses every single week. If you've done a lot of exercise you've probably shocked your body a bit and it's catching up, you'll most likely see another loss in the next week or two.

JoanCollinsDiva · 23/01/2025 09:10

so I know what I'm doing is good for me i just wish there was the visual reward of the number on the scales dropping too.

But you've dropped over 3 stone in less than 5 months!

You're doing great. I get what you're saying and the disappointment of getting on the scales after what has been a really good week to see no loss but you've got to keep remembering it's a marathon not a sprint. You're hopefully making habits now to last a lifetime, it's not a quick fix.

You should be really proud of what you've achieved so far and see rewards in other ways such as your massively improved fitness. I walked up a set of steep steps the other day and couldn't breathe (I'm on my first week!) 18 months ago I'd have run up them without a bother, so I know I can get there again.

@happygertie hi 1 week I put on 8lbs haha how that happened I don't know I just started again and got on with it as we don't have a choice Good Luck

Perhaps you've been gaining muscle mass due to all that striding up hill and down dale?

You might have continued to lose fat but the weight loss is hidden because you gained muscle. A pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat, but it doesn't look the same, and it burns more calories, so keep on striding.

Really unlikely that she's gained new muscle in a calorie deficit and just from walking.

It is very hard for women to build muscle, and takes time and effort. The odds of this are non existent,
