Ozempic - when does the “magic” begin?

Just injected my third 0.25 injection and honestly not sure I have had any kind of reaction to it yet. I have read that these very low levels can start very slowly so I am not entirely surprised but did expect to have some kind of reaction. Anyone had a similar experience?

Bumping for business!

It was similarly slow for me. Patience is hard sometimes!. I lost no weight during weeks 2, 3 and 4! But it’s slowly coming off now (currently week 9).

PS That said, I read Mounjara is more effective so after taking Wegovy I had to start over again at week 4 with Mounjara at 2.5.

JabberLass · 23/01/2025 13:05

Thanks for your reply. I’m fairly patient about the whole process but just wanting to check that my experience is not unusual.
I am reading other threads where people are losing weight from the very beginning, are experiencing reactions to their jabs, etc, but I am left wondering if I actually injected it or not 😊

I woke up the next day after the first injection and I wasn't hungry. It was magic.

Oohhhh, can I ask how long ago that was and how much weight you have lost?

I’ve heard many people have better results with mounjaro rather than ozempic.

I certainly feel the effects of mounjaro very quickly.

InkHeart2024 · 25/01/2025 15:55

Why are you using ozempic rather than Wegovy? The maximum dose you can be prescribed of ozempic is 1mg whereas with Wegovy it's 2.4. I didn't know anyone was still choosing to use ozempic now that Wegovy and mounjaro are available.

To answer your question, I did feel suppression on 0.25 but it was a lot stronger at 0.5 and 1mg.

Winterdazy · 25/01/2025 15:59

You won’t get many answers as no-one really uses Ozempic any more - why are you?

JabberLass · 25/01/2025 16:09

@InkHeart2024 @Winterdazy Ahh, thanks both. I’m using it because I get it free of charge on prescription from my consultant in an EU country. Next time I see him I will ask about the difference between them.

Ah ok, are you getting it for diabetes or weight loss? If weight loss, can you ask if the maximum dose has any flexibility? The most effective dosage for weight loss is above 1mg.

JabberLass · 25/01/2025 16:59

@InkHeart2024 - diabetes. Maybe it will kick in when I move to a higher dose.

Ozempic and Wegovy are the same drug with different licences. 0.25 and 0.5 mg doses are not officially therapeutic for weight loss. Some people do lose well on them and some people have to be patient and lose better on 1 mg. 0.25 mg doesn’t have much effect on me but I am currently happy with my appetite suppression and consistent loss on 1 mg.

Ozempic (licensed for diabetes) only goes up to 1 mg but Wegovy (licensed for weight loss) has doses available of 1.7mg and 2.4 mg.

Thank you so much for this - really clear and helpful information.
I’m not really on it for weight loss but would be disingenuous if I didn’t admit that losing some kgs would be very welcome!

@JabberLass I actually had my greatest losses on 0.25mg. I've been on ozempic for about 30 weeks and I've lost 20kg.

thornbury · 26/01/2025 16:14

I'm on 0.5 Ozempic and definitely notice the effects - my appetite is considerably reduced and I get satiated quickly. My chocolate drawer in the fridge hasn't been touched since I started using it!

JabberLass · 26/01/2025 21:34

@mmgirish @thornbury , thanks both. I am soon going up to 0.5 so I’ll be patient and optimistic both at the same time!

You can get 2mg of ozempic where I live.

Ok, 5 weeks in and 6kg down so I guess that’s a result!

OP posts:
thornbury · 12/02/2025 13:50

@JabberLass that's great! Only a sprinkling of magic dust happening here (still on 0.45) but a loss is a loss, it is going down, side effects are minimal and it's so EASY! Money well spent.

JabberLass · 12/02/2025 16:56

@thornbury - yes, I am very pleased. And all with no side effects!

OP posts:
Trasthornifit · 26/01/2026 18:08

For me the early doses were mostly a waiting game, and I didn’t feel much until I’d been on 0.25 for a few weeks. The bigger changes kicked in after moving to 0.5, so nothing unusual in what you’re seeing. I was using MEDVi at the time, which made the whole process smoother for me, especially with the steady check-ins. Everyone’s timing is a bit different, so it’s okay if it’s slow at first.
