Hi there I'm contemplating starting weight loss enjectiond but have a few questions, please.
Which is a good provider to go by? My friend is using Voy but it's pretty expensive. I get a bit anxious, so need one that's very good eith the support.
Can any of them give you a discount with a Blue Light card?
How do you store the injections? Trying to avoid my pre teen children from knowing.
If you want to use a maintenance dose, once you're at the weight you want to be, how does it work?
Thank you

Hey all the prices are listed on monj.co.uk. You can shop around providers for the best price. Once opened, you don’t need to keep
the pen in the fridge. Can you hide it in something in the fridge? Good luck x

SilenceInside · 19/01/2025 22:51

The monj.co.uk price list mentions which pharmacies do the Blue Light card discount, it's mentioned on the far right hand side of the table under the Discounts heading. I don't know if it's an exhaustive list but there are at least 4 pharmacies that are listed as Blue Light.

The ones that provide more responsive coaching tend to be the more expensive ones. All providers will answer questions usually via email, but will take a couple of days to respond.

Approaches to maintenance vary. Mounjaro has only been available for just about 11 months now. Some pharmacies will expect you to stop taking it once you reach a certain BMI. Some will let you continue taking a lower dose as long as your BMI doesn't go too low. Some smaller providers might allow you to do something more customised and specific to you. It's all still evolving.

Thank you everyone. So just to confirm. You only need to keep it in the fridge before you start using it? So once your receive your pen (with 4 does/A month's worth in) you take it out the fridge to do your first dose and then keep it else where? So technically a couple of days in the fridge and the rest of the time in a draw somewhere?

Once you've started using it you can keep it out of the fridge if you want. You can also keep it in the fridge still if you want. As long as it's kept under 30 degrees C, and above freezing. So it's up to you.

PresidentBarklett · 20/01/2025 07:12

I'd recommend Voy for the first dose as they have the coaching you require, for that added support at the start. It's pricey but your friend probably has a discount code she can give you firvtge first month. After that, you're free to move around to cheaper providers.

Good luck - greatest decision I've made for my health ever, I think.

That’s right about the fridge, although I tend to keep mine in there all the time.

i keep it in an egg box at the back of the fridge and my teens have never noticed or questioned it!

12purplepencils · 20/01/2025 07:16

Personally I wouldn’t get sucked in to the Voy, Ousck type ones where they give “coaching” to justify higher prices. There is a lot of support elsewhere such as on here, and other pharmacies you can message a doctor as needed. All of the reputable ones will provide this. Compare prices at monj.co.uk
I’ve been happy with Zava so far.

Thank you all for your advice, somehow it feels like a really big decision!
I have between 2-3 stone to loose. At present I'm 12stone 4 and 5 foot 5, bmi of 30.so not a huge amount.
I'm really nervous of the side effects and how they may effect me day to day though, especially at work.
Is there any way of potentially reducing the possibility of having aide effects?

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 20/01/2025 11:59

@TickingKey46 sometimes you just get side effects regardless, and it can be pretty unpredictable. Having said that, you can make sure that you are staying hydrated, eating sensibly - so prioritise protein and veg over carbs, particularly refined carbs. The reported level of mild side effects is 1 in 10, and that includes things like mild nausea, headaches, tiredness. Have some OTC remedies to hand for mild gastric issues.

Mounjaro slows your digestion down, so it's worth bearing that in mind, if things are going to be sitting in your digestive tract for longer. Fatty and sugary things can be problematic, also fizzy drinks. Also things that are generally harder to digest, you can find lists of these kinds of foods online.

I kept it in the salad drawer, there was nobody going to go hunting in there!

Pame

Ha ha the irony!

I am near enough the same as you - 5ft 3 and 12st 2.2 so just within the range of being able to be prescribed it. I've done loads of research and decided to just go for it yesterday. Waiting for my order to be confirmed with Oushk and all being well it should arrive on Friday.

I agree it feels like such a huge decision for some reason. But I'm trying to be relaxed about it, just giving it a go and see how I get on. I want to lose minimum 2 stone but would be good if I could to 2 and a half or even 3 (I've never been below 11st 7 in my life so can't really imagine it).

TickingKey46 · 20/01/2025 16:34

Discobelly can I ask why you have decided to go with them?
I think if I was honest with myself I feel a level of shame about it, it's stupid I know. All my family are slim none of them have ever been over weight.

I totally understand. I am not telling a soul about it except DH as I think I'll be judged by people who A. Have never had weight problems their whole life and B. Are misinformed about WLI.

I decided to go with them as I used the monj.co.uk chart and they were highly rated on Trustpilot, and they also offer a maintenance plan for when you reach your goal weight which I think will be helpful for me. They weren't hugely more expensive than the cheapest provider either. I was dithering a lot about who to go with so just decided on one!! I know a lot of people move around to maximise discounts etc but I can't really be bothered with it.

whippleproceedure · 20/01/2025 22:15

Honestly the absolute best decision I have ever made . If you can afford it just do it . I'm with boots because I had some trouble with the home delivery aspect and I like collecting it it from the chemist but the support is rubbish but there's great advice on here .
