GLP-1 Patches

mamabeeboo · 17/01/2025 11:55

Hi all, I need some medical help with my weightloss, being over 300lbs and will need to go private as my GP doesn't prescribe the injections yet. Injections are out of my price range, however I've seen this advertised on Facebook.

This are GLP-1 Patches - can anyone offer some suggestions/advice on using this? Has anyone bought it? I'm not sure if it's a scam. It's also very cheap for what it does.

It's berberine, which is absolutely not a GLP-1 medication. I am amazed they can get away with calling these things "GLP-1 Patches". I don't know if these patches are any more effective than just taking berberine tablets. These patches have 13.25mg of a berberine mix that includes pomegranate and cinnamon, whereas berberine tablets eg from Holland & Barrett have 1000mg per tablet and the suggested daily dose is 2 tablets. The tablets are also cheaper, at £19.99 for 60, as opposed to £12 for 30 patches.

ChubbyMcChubfest · 17/01/2025 12:09

Google tells me (lookfantastic.com which sells these Kind patches) that these have natural ingredients so I think they're a kind of herbal alternative aiming to affect the glp1 receptor that the injections target.

Personally, I wouldn't spend money on these patches as they're probably no better than any other herbal/natural remedy marketed at weight loss over the years.

Shrinkingrose · 17/01/2025 12:15

Op they are not glp-1. They are berberine, you can buy it in pill format. There is no evidence it works via a patch, it is supposed to aid weight loss but I tried it and it made no difference,

it’s a con though them calling it a glp patch.

Shrinkingrose · 17/01/2025 12:22

Sorry to add, I tried berberine in pill format before I moved to mounjaro. And as the first poster said, in much higher dose and it didn’t do anything for me,

if you want to use berberine just buy it off Amazon or something. Don’t use these, it’s a scam.

so a glp 1 is basically a peptide we produce naturally, that makes us feel full. The glp injections are synthetic versions, which boost it by about 1000.

this patch is “friendly “to your glp 1. Which is meaningless. It’s not even a claim. It isn’t going to do anything, and as a pp said, I’m surprised they are getting away with this.

mamabeeboo · 17/01/2025 12:33

Thank you all, this is really helpful. When I saw this online, the price and that the first ingredient wasn't GLP-1, my alarm bells started ringing, so thought I'd get a second opinion.

Another short thread on them here too.

They are not GLP-1, it is a cruelly misleading gimmick, surprised they get away with it. Berberine has been around for a while in tablet form, with very limited results for some - there are also no clinical trials if it would be effective transdermally.

Sorry op that you hopes have been dashed. Wish these injections were more readily available at a price point more could manage.

Shrinkingrose · 17/01/2025 12:50

Yes it would be lovely if we could get a patch for 12 quid a month and not pay 150-200 a month and inject, everyone would do it,

and irs a very low dose of berberine too, compares to the tablets you get, with some cinnamon and pomegranate thrown in. Crazy stuff,

Zeldazu · 20/01/2025 23:33

I wish i was more like you and done my research first! I've just bought 3 x 30 patches for £24.

I honestly didn't think they would work, but I cant afford the injections plus I am really worried about them, so the patches I thought "i'm not gonna die using them" and if it even gives me a push to do something while I see it on my wrist, it might help!

I need some oomph, I am 5st overweight and feel so disgusted with myself, but omg will i do something about it 🫣 so, if I can put these patches on and it reminds me to watch what I eat, move a little more and if I lose something then it's worth it for me!

I really did want to try the injections as I know someone who lost 4st in 4 months and I think wow, amazing, but now she can't come off them as she is really unwell, so if a wee placebo patch helps me, i'm willing to give it a bash! 😁

That’s sad for your friend, why can’t she come off them, I assume you mean she’s very mentally unwell?

and don’t worry you’re not alone in being conned. I saw someone ask on Facebook if it would make them sick like the injections. The advertising is proclaiming it the worlds first glp-1 patch and a lot of people it seems are falling for it, and didn’t read the ingredients and realise they were shoving cinnamon on their skin,

good luck with your weight loss journey, there are many ways to lose weight and the biggest and most successful is the desire to lose the weight.

12purplepencils · 21/01/2025 07:19

4 stone in 4 months is not enviable (unless she started with an extremely high weight).
and I don’t get how someone can be unwell and not be able to come off them? That makes no sense

3isnotacrowd · 21/01/2025 13:04

There is a mounjaro cost comparison site that shows you the cheapest places to get it if that helps. I think the cheapest was under £100.

Shrinkingrose · 21/01/2025 14:11

To be fair that’s starting dose, and if you need more, which most do, then the price jumps hugely. I get some try to stay on a low dose though either as it works or due to cost. But for me, for example there would be no point in me staying in 2,5 mg, after two weeks it stopped working, and if I couldn’t afford to go up, it would have been a waste of money,

CornishPorsche · 21/01/2025 14:13

I've recently reported these patches and the claims made in the adverts to the Advertising Standards Authority but they have directed me to the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Authority, so I'm going there next.

These patches are a clear scam and bunkum "science".

Yes that is true it is the starting dose and the 5 mg but even the higher doses don't cost that much more if you look at the comparison table. The cheapest for 10mg looks to be £129 plus postage.

omill001 · 24/01/2025 21:07

Get the injection...If in UK it's not that expensive, and if you consider how much less food you're consuming it will counteract some of the cost. I'm on 3rd week and have lost about 9lbs. It makes choosing healthy options much easier and and not much more than £30 per week it's totally worth it. My hope is to keep going for at least 6 or 7 months, and see how it goes... very hopeful

Zeldazu · 25/01/2025 00:37

Wow, good luck to you and I so hope it works for you 😊

Zeldazu · 25/01/2025 00:40

I dont know either 😕 it was just what I was told, I don't know if they were trying to put me off because I was very scared to try it? So add something else on so i then get it out my mind? Who knows 🤷‍♀️ 😏

Sj156 · 09/03/2025 07:51

Hi Zeldazu

How did you get on with the blyss patches? Did they help curb your appetite?

Zeldazu · 09/03/2025 12:59

Hey, yes it does and it's not Blyss patches it's the Kind patches I use, I lost 7.5lbs first week, 1lb each week there after for next two weeks, went on an all inclusive holiday for two weeks and took them with me and stood on scales when I got back and only put on 3lbs, that to me is a great result! I normally put on about 10lbs when I'm away, so I'm happy with that!

I am Such a sweetie fiend, love haribo supermix and revels can eat up to two bags on a night and lots of sugar in my coffee! Now after being on the patches I don't have that craving to have a sweet or as much sugar in my coffee, it's too sweet, even birthday cake the other day I never ate the icing, unheard of from me! 😁

Nerfertiti123 · 14/03/2025 13:26

Interesting thread. Guess what I have the Kind Patches. I guess I am a sucker for a scam 😪.I did wonder how effective these patches would be considering they are so flimsy and dont stick very well. I have had them for months and only started them yesterday.

Zeldazu · 14/03/2025 19:57

Really, they don't stick, omg i don't know what batch @you have but they rip a derma layer off, but I think thats coz i have a reaction to elastoplast! I have little circles where they've been, sometimes I have to rub oil on the patch to take it off! I've added a pic so you can see what i mean 🫠

Oh weigh in was yesterday and I took 2.5lbs off, so only 0.5lb away from my pre holiday weight 😁
