Hi, I’m two weeks into my 10mg injections and the sickness is getting a little too much. Fully throwing up any food. Water making me nauseous.

I inject on a Monday and will feel awful until at least Thursday. I’m currently coming off of maternity so I can’t afford to be sick at work. No cat naps with the baby anymore!

Does anyone have advice on whether I should persevere (as I’ve come this far) or drop back down to 7.5?

10mg was too much for me a couple of months ago. I had at least 24 hours of diarrhoea each week but didn't suffer any vomiting thankfully.
I went back down to 7.5 and it settled down.
That isn't working so well again now for me so I'm going to try 10 again and see how it goes again.

Onceachunkymonkey · 15/01/2025 08:24

They say the optimal dose is the one below which you can’t tolerate. As such, if you can’t take 10, then your optimal dose is likely 5. Were you hungry on this?

Doggymummar · 15/01/2025 08:26

That's rough. I was two months of this on Ozempic and I swapped to MJ. Talk to your pharmacist and see what they say.

Pashazade · 15/01/2025 08:45

Did you go up because you felt you needed to or because you thought you ought to? If you were still getting suppression at 7.5 then I would go back to that. Not eating is not the goal.

I just followed what they sent, didn’t think about it much.

But good to know

I would say 7.5 is probably the best option which is one below.

@pinkpepperclove so I've been on MJ for 4 months and I've only just gone up to 5mg for my last two doses. I use Asda pharmacy and whilst they make the next level available to you it's not compulsory. I was on 2.5mg for two months and then did 3.75mg for a little while (counting clicks on a 5mg pen). So whilst you have to be on the previous dose a month before they let you move up you absolutely don't have to if it's still working for you at the current dose. Oh and I've lost over 2 stone so far but at a nice steady pace. Roughly 2lb a week.

It’s getting unbearable. I’ve not kept one thing down since Sunday. This can’t be normal

Honestly you should have engaged with the program and not just taken what’s sent, they don’t know if you’re ready to move up or not unless you tell them,

you’re clearly on too high a dose, you will need to wait till it wears off, half life is five days,

What do you mean engage with the program? Am I missing something?

im on junipers service with weekly weight tracking that goes into the app and their scale? I would assume that was right

It looks like Juniper offer coaching or at least some talking advice whilst using their services. Have you spoken to anyone about this?

Waiting for a doctor to respond back.

Definitely drop back to 7.5, hope the doctor is helpful and it settles quickly.

OP took the medication as prescribed following consultations with a pharmacist. Bit off to pick on them for “not engaging with the program”.

Really this isn’t the opp for a pile on. These programs are designed so you tell the supplier if you want to stay at current dose, or they move you up automatically. Most people do not wish to move up most months, that’s what I meant by engage, so please if you want a pile on or to have a go at someone, there are plenty of other threads for you to roar into .

cakesandcandles · 16/01/2025 12:49

What kind of stuff were you eating when you could keep it down? I've found that sickness and diarrhoea comes with eating more unhealthy food and sticking to easy to digest stuff helps massively.

Did you do this yourself or with the guidance? I’m worried they’re going to stop me all together when I talk to the doctor

I didn’t realise this. I just assumed with my loss statistics they altered accordingly.

@pinkpepperclove how has your weight loss progressed? Has it stayed the same with every increase, dropped off as the month on each dose has gone on?

Snozzlemaid · 16/01/2025 19:35

@pinkpepperclove I just ordered a 7.5 pen the next time. I tend to buy from a different pharmacy each time as I look for the best price.
I requested a 7.5 pen and advised that I'd had bad side effects on 10 so wanted to go back down to 7.5.
It was approved with no problem.

dcbgr · 16/01/2025 20:23

For many people it is the food that causes the nausea and vomiting. In general really small amounts of high-protein low-fat go down okay. Protein water and protein shake often go down okay. Don't eat the diet that made you fat and sick, even in smaller amounts. Change your diet to something that doesn't make you sick. Take care. And reduce the mj dose too, but you really have to change what you eat to things that don't make you sick or constipated. Good luck!
