What is the average monthly cost of WLI?

To my surprise, during a recent discussion about our health, my DP remarked that he would be open to trying Mounjaro. I am coming round to the idea too. We're both at least two stone overweight and in our early fifties – we could do with overhauling ourselves for the sake of our health. I'm just wondering what kind of combined cost we could be looking at each month and thought it might be quicker to ask here than trawl through individual websites. Thanks!

Monj.co.uk for prices. Each pen lasts 4 doses/weeks (5 if you extract the remaining liquid with a syringe)

You need to be obese bmi > 30 or if you have a weight related health condition bmi > 27 to be eligible.

Have a look on here

https://monj.co.uk/discount-mounjaro-price-list/

gives you the price for each pen (with discount codes)

Thanks! Will check it out.

You need a bmi of 30 or 27 with either weight related health issues, or certain ethnicities,

I confirmed above – we both have BMIs over 30.

@DowntonNabby you're probably looking at a touch over £300 a month for the pair of you. I've always been with med express as they've been great for me and I've never had an issue - I also cannot be doing with discount chasing every month!

So up to 5mg you'll pay £150 ish per pen. And then £170 for 7.5

Good luck - it's a great thing!

Ok, I reread and can’t see that, sorry my bad, I cam see you’d said two stone to lose, which is often not obese, but assume you’re both very short, so yes you’d be eligible,

NewLifter · 12/01/2025 20:13

I must admit, I also can't see you state your BMIs!

The pens vary wisely in price and it very much depends on what dose you end up progressing to.

My pens have all been either 2.5mg or 5mg and I've never paid more than £127 including delivery due to special offers (I use Oushk Pharmary).

I'm now on maintenance and still buying 5mg pens from them, so for me it's long term.

I get 5 doses out of a pen and definitely save money on food etc so it almost evens out.

Good luck to you both!

I am so sorry! I thought I had replied upthread but it didn’t post. We both have BMIs over 30. I am 5ft 8 and 15 stone. He is 6ft and a couple of stone heavier than me.

Cost for me averages somewhere like £3.50 per day.

A positive bonus is that I have been completely off pain relief meds for 5 months - the medication has reduced all my inflammation (osteoarthritis).

Good value I feel.

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 12/01/2025 21:34

It's significantly more expensive for me in Australia but I just wanted to add that I'm still saving money. I'm spending next to nothing at the supermarket, not eating or drinking much or at all if we go out, not caving to cravings and getting Uber Eats. Also not buying clothes as I know there's no point while I'm losing.

Thing is if you both start them, you likely will want to lose more than 2 stone, for the simple reason you can get to a healthy weight, so why settle for overweight.

you also spend a lot less on food and drink, if you drink alcohol, we still eat the same dinner foods basically just my portions are much smaller, I tend to avoid the carb element and I don’t drink much at all now, where as before I would drink at least two bottles of wine a week, which was 20 quid right there, so the net cost is much lower.

plus you’re only on the higher doses, which cost more for a short period of time, in reality you will maybe do this for six months, to reach whatever target you set, then either come off, or stay on a low maintenance dose , and the lower doses are cheaper.

plus a pill format will be available in the next couple of years latest, which will bring the cost way down,

IHateMozzies · 12/01/2025 23:21

I paid £150 for my 2.5 pen, then £109 and £118
for my next two 5mg pens.

Med Express works well with referral credits and price matching, I have had a couple of people use my referral code and always price match before ordering. You are limited to which sites they will price match with in the t&c's. I paid £110, £15 (double price match for black Friday) and £94, the first two were 2.5mg and the last was 5mg.
