Mounjaro and the heart

So I'm all on board with Mounjaro. Done my research and generally think it's a bit of a wonder drug! I'm two weeks in, so v early days, but so far no side effects whatsoever!

As far as I can tell from the research I've done, mounjaro seems to have pretty positive effects on most of the major organs, imcluding the heart. It's only downside seems to be muscle loss and as I'm a runner, I'm not too worried about that. I just might need to add in some swimming or weights a bit more to my regime.

My main concern is, and I may be missing something here, but isn't the heart a muscle????? In which case, shouldn't I be worried that the heart muscle will start to waste???

Is there anyone medical out there that can explain why mounjaro causes muscle loss but might not cause heart muscle deterioration?

Please help me understand! Or am I correct to worry that mounjaro might cause a deterioration in my heart muscle?? (and if so, that is scary)

Two things.

mounjaro is about tk be approved for cardio vascular disease.
seondly, the drug doesn’t make you lose muscle. I’m surprised logically you even think that.

what makes you lose muscle is losing weight whilst not eating enough protein or exercising,

And no, it doesn’t mean you lose your heart cmon,

From all I have read the muscle loss with Mounjaro is no different to the muscle loss with any other weight loss programme and I have not heard of any concerns wen people lose weight any other way. If you are runner then you are regularly keeping your heart pumping hard so it will be all the more protected than a sedentary person.

Our bodies also have sophisticated ways to manage these things - our brains are 60% fat but don't shrink in any meaningful way when we lose weight.

Are you sure about the jab not making you loose muscle? I'm sure I've read a couple of studies that show people on mounjaro loose more muscle than control groups on diet and exercise alone. It does seem to be a GLP1 effect directly on muscle. But I hope you are right and I am wrong. I'll have a look into the research a bit more later! Thanks for your reply!

Yes, can you link the studies, of course the drugs don’t make you lose muscle. They don’t even make you lose fat. That’s done as you eat less.

Do you know the name of this academic? I'd like to look at more of his work.
