This is for anyone considering taking a weight loss jab, or maybe they’ve already decided they are going to do it or not. I’m not looking for validation, there are numerous threads on here discussing the pros and cons of these. This will be a day by day diary of my experience, for your interest or assistance.
I also need to post a few days straight away to catch up with myself.

Thanks for sharing! I'm back on the wagon this week after missed doses over the holidays.

Day 8-11

I thought I’d update for mid week/weigh in . It would be too boring to tell you what I’ve been eating this week, much the same as the first week, as with the amount of exercise I’ve done. No more or less than usual.
What I have noticed this week is the hunger feeling again. A couple of the days I’ve wondered if I’d administered the injection correctly, as I have certainly been hungrier for some of the days than I was in Week 1.Then one of the days I didn’t have lunch until 2.30pm as I was busy and didn’t think about it. Maybe my expectations that I would not be hungry ever were too unrealistic. However, yesterday perhaps put my mind at rest that I had injected correctly. I went to a monthly club meeting where there are snacks put on the table- crisps, cheese etc, and the previous time we were at this venue, I almost single handedly ate one of the small platters.Last night though, I had no desire to snack on them and only had 3 or 4 crisps. I had eaten as usual about 6pm before I went out, but that hadn’t stopped me last time! The only thing I’d say was I was hungry when I went to bed, which was about 11pm, and regretted slightly not having a few more snacks during the evening.
One of the other reasons I’ve refrained from snacking, you know, to ‘test’ my resistance, is that I really want this to work. I don’t want to have to go back to the despair of weight loss clubs, or similar to lose weight. Plus it’s an expensive option, and I want the money to be spent well, and not to be wasted.
I’ll update again after weigh in at the end of Week 2.

I know this is a diary for you more than a conversation, but I just want to say that having been on Mounjaro for 4 months now I've noticed that my hunger ramps up around the week before my period and then the whole time I have it. I feel like I haven't injected at all. I could eat the leg off a scabby horse and then the rest of him. You might notice a similar pattern over time, whether it be hormones (not necessarily period-related), sugar crashes, stress, poor sleep, etc. You should keep a note of these.

Well done so far!

Thanks for reminding me to keep and eye out for that, I'm only on week two but i am impossible to fill around my period so I might need to be really on it mentally to stop picking

Enjoying your updates op, we started at the sand time (although I took my first injection on the wed evening). Shocked at the lack of food noise and no appetite, this is very new for me and actually find it a bit weird lol but in a good way

Week 2
Well the end of Week 2 has come and gone and I am pretty disappointed. I’ve only lost half a pound, and whilst this is still a loss, I’m kinda thinking I could’ve achieved this at a £5 a week slimming club. I guess really I was hoping for a bit more bang for my buck. It has also made me realise how little you have to eat to lose weight. This, or you have to be massive to begin with. As you can see from my initial post, I am not massive, but definitely heavier than I should be, and far from sitting in the ‘overweight’ band of the BMI.
I could list here what I eat during the week, but it does not vary much, and I’m certainly not stuffing takeaways 3 times a week, I have at least remembered and applied some things from my many weight loss meetings.

Again, I am questioning the potency of the 2.5mg and will see how I get on during Week 3 before re-ordering . It’s mid morning and my stomach is rumbling!
Weight loss this week:-0.5lbs
Cumulative loss end of Week 2: 3.0lbs

If you’re far from overweight bmi, which means you’re 25 or below how on earth are you getting the drugs?

SilenceInside · 21/01/2025 12:46

@Gettingslimmer I think the OP means she is far from the overweight category as her starting BMI was 33.6.

@MounjaroDiary you've lost 3lbs in two weeks, is that right? That's an expected amount of weight loss, and you are still on 2.5mg which is not intended to produce weight loss although some people do experience it. In another 2 weeks you will have lost half a stone ish at this rate. That's great, and nothing to be disappointed by. For me, the whole point of Mounjaro is that it's a long term process, to be looked at over months not days or a couple of weeks.

HollyKnight · 21/01/2025 13:34

2.5mg is just a starting dose—it's not a therapeutic dose. Its purpose is to minimise side effects by easing you onto the drug. People who try to bypass that end up sick. A lot of the news reports about people ending up in hospital are people who have taken too high a dose too fast.

Ah, sorry it was the not massive comment that threw me, I think it is perception, I started at 32 bmi and I was bloody massive, but the same dress size, 😂

MounjaroDiary · 26/01/2025 13:32

Thank you @SilenceInside and @HollyKnight . It's good to have some rational comments and shows how easy it is to set up expectations to fail.

I had a good mull this week and in my thoughts have separated the appetite suppressant part from the not thinking about food part.

The appetite suppressant part has continued to be very subtle. This morning I was ravenous for breakfast, and had a really decent meal, whereas yesterday morning it was less so, but not to the extent of picking at food. I'm eating what I'd say was a normal portion for me on most meals.

The not thinking about food is of far more use to me. I heard Oprah Winfrey talk on the radio the other day about her weight loss with Ozempic, how she realised thin/slim people simply don't think about food in the same way. And this is very much me. I had an evening meeting last week. I am out of the house from 3-8 - right over prime eating time - and I usually get anxious before and during the meeting as I know I will be hungry, and if there's biscuits there I usually have a small pile on the table to get me through, whether I feel hungry or not. It's this that contributes to my snacking and eating more than I would normally. I'm enjoying just eating when I'm hungry, and not thinking about it in between.

So, generally I'm feeling much happier about it. I'm also not going to increase the dose beyond the 2.5mg. I've had relatively few side effects and really don't want to be feeling nauseous or worse.

Weigh in tomorrow, but I'm feeling positive, and wore a skirt last night that I haven't been able to get into for the last year. It's still tight but at least I can do it up!
My actual mini goal when I started this was to lose half a stone before end of Feb since we are going on a winter sun holiday and I know I would not be able to get into any of my swimwear. So I am on track 😎

Week 3
I’m a little late with the update for last week, it’s been a nutty time.
Well the positivity feeling turned into a good loss in the end, and it was another 2 pounds lost. As I said in my very first post, I’ve never been one to lose oodles of weight every week, and that’s a good thing.
I’ve re-ordered at 2.5mg.The online order double checked with me that I wanted to continue at this strength, and I will consider in a months’ time, but will probably increase to 5mg at that point. I'm not having any side effects whatsoever and want to continue that way.
I wore a pair of trousers yesterday that I hadn’t been able to do up before Christmas. I mean, there’s no slack in them, but they’re on!
DH hasn’t noticed but has remarked that his ‘diet’ isn’t going too well. We’re still eating Christmas chocolate even though we gave loads of it away.

Weight loss this week:-2lbs
Cumulative loss end of Week 2: 5.0lbs

Thanks for these updates OP, I ordered my first injection yesterday. Excited but very apprehensive! I need to loose 5 stone, which seems a huge amount right now, and not even possible Grin

I wonder what happened to OP, and how she got on.

LavenderBlue19 · 22/04/2025 07:39

This was really interesting to read, I'd like to know too. @MounjaroDiary are you still out there?

MounjaroDiary · 30/04/2025 16:12

Hi All
Yes, sorry I disappeared. My DF was taken seriously ill and admitted to hospital abroad, it was an emotional/exhausting/challenging period of time. He is back in the UK now and better. Not surprisingly, I dropped the ball on this thread (along with a few other things!).I will update though, as it’s fairly interesting.

I opted to have the 2.5mg injection pen for a second time for Weeks 4-8. I was a little nervous to up my dose, and had a relatively easy ride of it until then, it was doing it’s stuff, and I had not experienced many side effects – mild diarrhea/mild constipation etc.
I had also wanted to lose half a stone before I went on holiday. All went well until Week 8. I lost exactly 7 pounds as at end of Week 7 and took the last jab of the 2.5mg pen around 2 days before we left to go away.
About two days into the holiday I noticed I had really itchy skin. Apparently my back was ‘zitty’ according to my DH. However, he was also experiencing very itchy skin, and we put it down to the desalinated water and using shower products that weren’t our own, plus dry heat.
The itchiness subsided a little towards the end of our week away, we were slathering on body lotion.
When we returned to the UK I took my first dose of 5mg. My DH went away again 2 days later for a long weekend with mates, and I had a lot of plans to do various things whilst on my own (you know, own the remote…). Well, a day after I had taken the dose, the itchiness returned with a vengeance. I had itches all over my skin and in places it was impossible to reach, and by that, I mean internally, felt like in my uterus, or intestines, mostly inside in my lower abdomen area. It was obviously an allergic reaction to it. I’m not massively prone to allergies, I’ve had one or two incidences in my life that were quickly cleared up by taking antihistamine.
On top of this I was incredibly nauseous, so much so that I was completely out of action for 2 whole days. And for the other 2 days either side I was shuffling around the house annoyed that my time was being spent that way. These symptoms all abated after 4-5 days and completely disappeared after 9 days.
I could not bring myself to take any of the other doses in the pen, and chucked it away a week or so later. I have contemplated returning to the 2.5mg, but overall I don’t think it’s worth it.I lost 7lbs, put 2lbs back on since then, so 5lbs weightloss cost me £600 and 4 days out.
Still, my DH kind of noticed that I’d trimmed down a little, and has started talking again about going back on Keto together, which I found fairly easy to do before, and lost a stone on this two years ago over the summer. Found it harder to do in the winter though.

I hope that information helps people? The allergic reaction had started whilst still on the 2.5mg, but on injection #8, so perhaps it was the build up, or that my body couldn’t continue to process it.Either way, I don’t really want to be cooking my insides with drugs, because God knows what else it is doing to you if it is causing your body to react like that.
