MJ - maintenance - which pharmacy / service do you recommend?

strongermummy · 05/01/2025 19:27

I have a BMI of 30 and looking to get to 22. Starting Mj this week via pharmacy2U. Will shop around for the next pen.

However I am wondering whether I need to find a provider and stick with the same one as I get closer to goal.....

So, For those of you who have got to, or near your Goal Weight, did you:

  1. use the same pharmacy / service provider for your whole journey?
  2. Who are you using for maintenance?
  3. Are you still taking MJ?
  4. Have you had any problems sourcing it as you have got smaller?
  5. Which service providers would you recommend, & why? For the journey or for maintenance!

Many thanks.

I started with Pharmacy2U and I have switched to Cloud now as my BMI is around 27. Cloud have policies to support maintenance and are more flexible so I wanted to switch to them before my BMI was too low.

I was with Chemist 4 U and then switched to Oushk when my BMI was 25. It's now 21.3 and I'm on a maintenance dose. I plan to stay on a maintenance dose for at least a year, tapering off slowly. I use Oushk because it's flexible, good pricing and good customer service.

letshavetea · 05/01/2025 19:39

I started with Oushk as I researched maintenance before starting. I’ve been pleased with them. Still a way to go as my BMI is still 27.1

I've been with Lloyds pharmacy since I started the beginning of October but tried to reorder around new year and they hadn't got any stock. I've now changed to cloud pharmacy as they had stock but also as I'm now BMI 26 so can carry on a maintenance dose if I want to.

I started with Simple Online Pharmacy and have just switched to Oushk because of their maintenance service - I am far off that point at the moment but didn’t want to leave it too late and then find I couldn’t switch.

Please someone tell me what is the first step to buying these injections. I am morbidly obese and need to take the plunge. can i just go to somewhere like Boots on the high street and order them or does it have to be bought online. How do I know the seller is reputable? And what kind of costs am I looking at to get started - morbidly obese probably over 20 stone. Do they need to know exact weight etc? Thanks in advance.

Mummacake · 05/01/2025 21:09

I'm with Voy & have found them to be very good. Always someone available to answer questions or deal with any concerns.

you can find lots of help and advice on the weight loss and injections board. take your time to find a provider that works for you. yes your weight and height will be needed as well as photos in line with the providers guidance.
don't panic and just take a little bit of time to find what is best for you.

@Miley1967 it's an online service, although places like Boots, Asda, Superdrug let you collect the medication from their physical pharmacies if you want.

There is a price comparison site called

monj.co.uk

It lists GPhC registered pharmacies which are all regulated and inspected. You simply pick one that has a price that suits you and go to their website. You look for Weight Loss Injections or similar, and then start filling out the consultation form. You give your medical details, height, weight and so on. Most places will ask you for photos to show your figure (eg in tight fitting clothes) and sometimes stood on scales. Once you've done the consultation and paid, it will be reviewed and then likely approved. The medication is then sent out to you or you collect it.

As you'll see from the comparison website, prices can vary a lot, and are more expensive as you move up the doses. Everyone starts on the 2.5mg dose, which you take for at least 4 weeks. The price is for each injection pen, which contains 4 doses, so a 4 week supply. Expect to pay around £100 to £200 a month.

(This is all in relation to Mounjaro. Online pharmacies will also offer Wegovy which is the same as Ozempic)

Thanks for sharing. I shall take a look at them as I've seen Voy mentioned a few times on these boards.

Good luck @strongermummy I've lost 20kg since October and still going!

dcbgr · 06/01/2025 13:51

I have been following a lot and Oushk, Cloud and Pharmulous seem the only three consistently good for maintenance. Oushk maybe most personalised service. Many others are inconsistent so they say one thing and then change later (e.g only allowing a high normal BMI or only for a limited time or needing more intrusive pictures). Remember to take a photo of all your pen box labels with your name visible when they arrive and/or screenshot of prescription as you will need proof of previous prescription if you change when your BMI is <30 or <27 if co-morbidities / some ethnicities.
