Mounjaro - where to start?

Sorry if there's a thread on this already, I did look a month or so ago but could only see the various monthly update groups

I've found the price comparison website, but many are much for muchness in terms of cost. I've read about using a reputable site, but not sure how you're meant to tell which ones are reputable vs the ones to avoid.

How did/do you decide which company to use?

Any advice for a clueless person hoping to give this a go very welcome!

The pharmacies should be GPhC registered and provide their registration number. You can then go to the GPhC website and check their details are valid, and read their most recent inspection report. Some newer pharmacies may not yet have been inspected.

Then it's just deciding on a company that provided a service that you're happy with. Some offer additional coaching, some offer a subscription model where your prescription is sent out every 4 weeks and at the standard dosage schedule unless you actively alter it.

There are big names like Asda, Boots, Superdrug and so on who will let you collect from a pharmacy rather than use a delivery service. Some people prefer that option.

You can change to a different provider if you start with one and then decide you want to change later.

All the pharmacies on the www.monj.co.uk price comparison site are all registered (and reputable, depending on experience). You just pick one and look up their reviews on mounjaro forums on mumsnet, reddit, facebook or trustpilot reviews to find user experience re: reputable. You can then decide based on what they offer besides the cost factor. They're all legally registered and you can cross check on the GPhC website if in doubt.

i went with Voy as they had the coaching and also webinars about the medication and how to use it. they also did a q&a on the webinar and the pharmacists answered the questions professionally. the app has some helpful tips and tracking for weight loss.
i find their customer services extremely responsive and i just email any queries over.
i don't find the coaching hugely helpful now i'm a couple of months in but it was good at the beginning for ideas when i was really struggling to get calories in as the suppression was so great.
i have negotiated a discount on my subscription as well which is always nice. they also will prescribe long term for maintenance which again is important to me as i'm over halfway to where i need to be but know i'll need to take this medication long term so i don't fall back into old habits.
i did try and change to medexpress at one point but found them very difficult to deal with and took payment before i had even been approved. they then rejected all my photos despite them meeting their guidelines so i cancelled and went back to voy.
everyone will have a discount code to offer you but don't let that influence you as it really is about which provider is going to give you what you need long term.

I started with Asda, been with them for 6 months and had no issues whatsoever. I have just swapped to Zava, who actually are the provider that Asda use to deliver their service, as they are cheaper and I could use an offer code.

IHateMozzies · 05/01/2025 17:48

I started with Superdrug as I wanted a name I knew and they offered 33% off.

Only offered 10% off next pen so looked for a new provider. I used a referral code to get £40 off my first order with MedExpress and it was approved quickly and delivered quickly.

Next I’ve gone to IQ Doctor. I’m not in any hurry for my pen but they stated there would be a delay in dispatch. I’m hoping to receive this week.

I’ll be going back to MedExpress for my next pen.

I’m definitely a price chaser and you can find them all on here: https://monj.co.uk

If you would like a MedExpress code for £40 off your first order, PM me.

I went with simple online pharmacy because I’d bought from them before when I tried saxenda, I’ve found them good and reliable

morbidcuriosity · 05/01/2025 17:56

I've used Asda to start with, as was a name I knew and wanted to collect in store.. then realised its much cheaper elsewhere using referral codes etc. And I've then used Zava (which asda use) and med express.. am going to switch again to oushk possibly 1 more cheaper one from iq doctor, depends what my bmi is when I need to order next..

Started bmi of 36 but now I'm 28 I think so got to start thinking of sticking with 1 supplier..

WeAllHaveWings · 05/01/2025 18:41

I went originally with ZAVA for my first order (cheapest at the time) but changed to Oushk as I wanted to be able to request a specific delivery date to make sure I was home (I time them for when I am planning to WFH, but they do Saturdays too) instead of not knowing when it would be delivered. I can also choose Royal Mail or DPD which is good as Royal Mail isn't great where I am.

I haven't had to use Oushk support other than to change delivery dates on orders I have placed in advance, but they appear from their facebook to be responsive. They also do live Q&As which I found useful in the beginning. Oushk currently have a deal for new starts which I think was £99 for first pen.

To be honest, after I read the leaflets in the box, then I got lots of info and support here on MN, I found any extra support was not needed. Guess it depends on whether you have more complex medical needs/wants.

If you choose a supplier and wish to switch to another it can be done easily (at least until you get to a BMI < 30 then it might get a little bit trickier for some companies).

Thanks so much for all the messages and advice! That's been helpful to clear up some of the questions. Sometimes there's too much info on the internet you know? Better to hear it from actual people with experience rather than using a search engine where the responses might be paid for ads or whatever.

Hey, quick (potentially stupid) question. Am registering with a company and they're asking for a full body photo. They just mean like a regular full length photo of me with clothes on right? It would be explicit if it meant in underwear/swimwear or something figure hugging?

They need to be able to see the outline of your body so not swim wear but not anything too loose either. I just take a picture in a vest top and yoga pants
