I started not taking the jab on time every week in December. At one point I forgot what day I took it. I've over eaten. Put on weight and now it's been 9 days since my last jab. I need to get back on track. Doesn't help that I've haven't been exercising either.

Has anyone else done this and can offer advice or a kick up the arse to get my head back into it. Strongly I've got the stomach pains back today and laying in bed with a heat pad.

I normally take the jab on a Sunday night. Should I start back then back in a routine or take now and bite the bullet.

Don't beat yourself up about it. Acknowledge your food excess and how that happened and try and move on. Be kind to yourself. What would you say to a friend who had done the same thing? I bet you'd be nicer to her than you're being to yourself. You'd be unlikely to tell her that she's blown it and she may as well not bother so don't think these things or similar yourself.

There's no reason why you can't get back into a good routine now, you just need to make the decision to do it - and it will be a lot easier with the appetite suppression compared to past attempts when you've tried to lose weight without that help.

As to whether you jab today/tomorrow or wait until Sunday, it's up to you. There might be reasons why jabbing on a Sunday worked better for you so you want to wait, but if not, I guess you should ask why wait? Why not get back into your healthy eating (and jabbing routine) but starting on a Friday or Saturday, instead of a Sunday.

I think don't think too much about this, just commit to a restart now and move forwards. No need to give yourself a hard time.

Christmas is a difficult period for many and holidays put the usual routine out of the window for a while. You could do your next injection tomorrow or Sunday, whichever you prefer. If you have a calendar app on your phone or similar you could set a weekly reminder to do your injections to help you keep on track

What dose were you on?

Thank you for your replies.

I was on 5mg. I have one 5mg left and I have my 7.5 pen waiting. I think I'll start back on it tonight with my last 5mg and see how next week goes. I was doing so well. I'm cross with myself.

As Silence says don't over think it. It is so easy to get out of a routine during Christmas and you won't be alone.

While it might, in hindsight, be frustrating you are not as far along as you might have been for the money spent, still being here and ready to restart is a success to be proud of and you will have gained valuable experience during this which will benefit you in the future.

Take your 5mg (assuming you haven't skipped lots of doses in December and it is now well beyond the discard after 30 days rule) and see how you get on.

If you want to stick to 5mg next week or a couple of weeks until you settle back into a routine, and be sure moving up doses is the right thing for you, you can consider doing 40 clicks from your 7.5mg pen to give you a 5mg dose.

LunchtimeNaps · 05/01/2025 13:23

Oh I never thought about the pen expiring. Yea I'll take my last 5mg tonight and see what happens.

You're not alone. I'm in exactly the same position, to the current dose I'm on too!

We can do this! I'm doing my next injection tonight and starting afresh tomorrow!

Use it as a learning experience. There's obviously still work you need to do around food, overeating and regular exercise.

Sprogonthetyne · 06/01/2025 10:55

In a similar boat, ended up injecting 2 days late as away from home for longer then expected, combined with overeating and not getting to the gym the entire school holidays due to lack of childcare. A week on I'm back to where I was, so I'm thinking of it as a 3 week stall, instead of a gain, but really annoyed with myself as each of those weeks costs around £40 for jabs, with nothing to show for it.

I injected when I got back, and am gradually moving back to my usual day 12 hours at a time (should be Thursday morning but didn't do it until Friday evening after Christmas, did next one Friday morning, and will next Thursday night).

My plans went a bit wonky last night. Went to use the bonus dose and I broke the pen. Never managed to mess this up before and didn't have the needles so had to order them. Got them now so finally if all goes to plan I'll take my last 5mg tonight and started the 7.5mg next week.

It’s a form of self sabotage really. You need to discipline yourself going forward now that you are aware of your own “warning signs”. These signs are the early indicators that you’re falling off track. This could be the desire to delay the injection for example, which then leads to other unhelpful behaviour.

If this happens in the future then just take the next dose as soon as you remember. Don’t tell yourself I’ll do it later/tomorrow/Sunday.

LunchtimeNaps · 06/01/2025 20:42

Did the syringe/bonus dose thing and it was unpleasant and hurt. The needle was bigger than the ones we get with the pens. I plan not to do that too often but needs must 🤣.
