Many Thanks

I've had the Mounjaro injections from 2 different suppliers and before it was released I had Saxenda from 2 suppliers - there is nothing showing on my nhs record. Everytime I've been honest in giving my GP details and don't have an issue with them being notified, but I don't think they have been

Blushingm · 01/01/2025 20:39

@unsync it's unusual for hospitals and GP to be able to see all records. Here there is a portal where very limited info is available but unless it's actually sent between them a GP can't see hospital notes and vice versa- they use completely different systems.

I'm a district nurse - GP can't see my clinical notes and I can't see theirs as it's different computer systems

Health express

Wrote to mine , letter on my file on nhs app even though I didn’t give doctors details

Is this UK wide? Whete I am, our GP records and hospital records are accessible and joined up.

Some hospitals can’t see records from other hospitals.
I took ds to an appointment at a hospital and they copied the test results that were available on his GP app and manually typed them into the hospital records.

AubreysMonkey · 01/01/2025 20:49

Your reason, OP, may be totally innocent ... but this is a potent drug and this post screams of potential misuse. I don't think we should be giving folk tips on how to bypass safety measures when accessing this drug.

Mooandmae1 · 01/01/2025 20:54

I've been with Med express since August and ticked to say I was happy for them to inform my GP and gave details. Seen an emergency Dr last week and my own GP this week and I had to Inform both of them about me taking Mounjaro as I thought they needed to know based on my symptoms. Both said it wasn't on my record.

Iudncuewbccgrcb · 01/01/2025 21:14

Voy don't.

They don't ask for GP details at all. I checked my NHS record and there is nothing there.

I have no medical reason for my GP not to know- I just don't want it on my record mainly because I have access to lots of medical records through my job and it's something I would prefer to be private if they are ever accessed for any other reason.

BTW in some regions of the country not just medical professionals can see your medical records and they are VERY joined up. Through my role (non medical) I have access to your GP records, your prescribed meds, your mental health records and your social care records at the click of a button. I absolutely have a legitimate reason for accessing this but the level of information available now without much oversight makes me uncomfortable.

I live in the same area and know I have never overtly opted into this or specifically been informed that it's possible by my GP surgery. I think people would be horrified if they knew the level of access there is now. I'm not sure GP surgeries are even properly aware.

NerrSnerr · 01/01/2025 21:16

I'm not sure why people wouldn't tell their GP. It's not just about emergency admissions but if you go to the GP and have other meds prescribed there could be contraindications.

What is the reason not to tell the GP? Is it due to lying about weight to get the injections?

Pixie2015 · 01/01/2025 21:18

People with eating disorders / low bmi are lying to get them.

I'd tell my GP if I had to because I was seeing them about something else or needed to be prescribed something else.

But as I started with a BMI of 30.8 and I'm on no other medications and haven't seen a GP since my 6 week check up after my last child in 2018 I don't see that they need to know about it anymore than if I had gone to a pharmacy for co-codamol for tonsillitis.

It's just irrelevant information to them at this point but leaves a permanent mark on my medical records that may be judged in future e.g. by health insurance companies.

I was just saying this to my husband. Horrifying really.

This is why healthcare needs to be joined up.

It’s perfectly legal and above board to use a private pharmacist or a private doctor. Ignore the rude posters OP.

This. Personally, I would strongly recommend sharing the information with your GP or any other health professional treating you, so that they have a full picture of your health, but the choice is yours.

HCP can only share your medical information without your permission in limited circumstances. Examples would be when clinically necessary, if there was a safeguarding concern or if there was a legal requirement to do so.

Mutcgy · 01/01/2025 21:30

I switched supplier and purposely chose one that didn't tell my GP after the first did and she rang me to give me a lecture about calorie deficits and slimming world!

I have an anxiety disorder and OCD and I just can't deal with another patronising phone call from her.

DappledOliveGroves · 01/01/2025 21:33

Voy don’t. And I’ve since switched to Oushk and
whilst I provided my GP’s details I’ve just checked the NHS app and can’t see anything on there to show I’m on Mounjaro.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/01/2025 22:54

I don't get why anyone wouldn't want their doc to know

It's for your own safety and health

They aren't going to judge

And surely only a good thing if you lose weight

Maybe it depends on the surgery. Every pen I've ordered has been recorded by my surgery, as every provider has notified them each time I've ordered. The notes are in my GP health record on the NHS app, under the 'consultations' and/or 'documents' sections.

Edited to add that I haven't used your suppliers though, so maybe not applicable in your particular case.

This is also why I choose a supplier who doesn't inform my GP. I haven't seen a doctor in over 6 years, and have never had an appointment with my current practice since I moved to the area 5 years ago.

My last recorded weight could only have been Overweight at the most, or perhaps normal, before I became Obese in the last 6 or so years, with BMI 38 when I commenced MJ.

I simply don't want it on my records if possible. I have life insurance policies where I'd hate for them to not pay out because I hadn't disclosed a later diagnosis of Obesity.

My family know that I'm on the medication, so in the event of an emergency, the doctor can be informed.

Thankyou for the many helpful replies about suppliers who don't inform your GP. Seems there are a few to choose from. Many Thanksx
