Just submitted images for prescription approval for Mounjaro. How long is the current wait time for approval and dispatch?

I received mine two days after ordering but it wasn’t over the Christmas period.

Lola3034 · 29/12/2024 17:24

It is hard to tell since there could be a huge rush of people trying to start from 1st of January. Hopefully not too long. I just ordered next dose for myself yesterday night and today I got the message that the order has been approved and is on its way. It says estimated delivery 03.01

That's quite concerning that it could take up to 5 days to arrive, it needs to keep cold and the packs only guarantee 48 hours.

BrownJenkins · 29/12/2024 18:29

When I applied to them the whole process was less than 24 hours.
I've never known MedExpress send the pens and them not be delivered within 48 hours. My pens have always been icy cold upon delivery. The box is bulky but the insulation is very good. They're also very good at keeping me informed, via email.
I ordered my last pen on Sunday 22nd and it arrived Tuesday 24th.

lleeggoo · 29/12/2024 18:36

I have never had one take that long either, but I have also never had one say it would be up to 5 days. That's far too long for it to remain fridge temperature.

emmsyg · 29/12/2024 18:42

Mine took 2 days for approval (applied 26th) and then it was dispatched this morning (29th). It also says 3rd Jan delivery but it’s been sent RM 24 so presumably it’s not going to take that long, think they’re just covering themselves!

TartanMammy · 29/12/2024 19:40

Mine only took a couple of hours to get approved and was dispatched next day.

Sunshineisheretoday · 29/12/2024 20:36

Thanks all i imagine with it being sunday and after xmas, it will be very busy.
I started my diet already but as expected finding keeping the calories down difficult.

Good luck, OP.

I found it was very quick after photos submitted, and a very easy process for re-ordering.

As a PP said, the MedExpress packaging is very good - mine was left inside for 3 days after delivery recently (I was away and forgot to and my DH to open it) and the pen box was still very cold when I opened it.

Hope you have a good experience - I have 💕

I am not too concerned, it usually comes quicker than the estimated delivery date. I would be worried if the weather was nicer but it is cold so the ice packs should hold up.

Lola3034 · 29/12/2024 21:47

Recently, every time I had it delivered, the Ice barely melted. Most of it was still solid. They send it out wrapped in some sheep's wool packaging and it really holds the temperature well.

Lola3034 · 30/12/2024 09:38

Just checked my email and Royal Mail is going to deliver tomorrow🥳. Not too bad!

I only had the one message that I posted at the top of the page to say that the order is on its way but this isn't my first order. This time I ordered higher dose.

Flabbio · 02/01/2025 17:18

Have you had any update from medexpress? I also ordered my first pen on 29th, been approved since 30th and then awaiting dispatch since then. With yesterday being a bank Holiday I thought it would be dispatched today but haven't had any further update!

DubLass · 03/01/2025 13:49

As I'm getting mine delivered to Ireland it's always out of the fridge for quite some time .
Have had no issues really and on it since September.
Not sure what the issue might be about not being refrigerated?
It thought it could be out of the fridge as long as not above 30 degrees ?

SilenceInside · 03/01/2025 14:11

@DubLass the 30 days out of the fridge is only when it's been used, once you've done the first injection. At that point it's been exposed to the air and to potential contaminants so, fridge or not, you have 30 days to use it.

Before that, when it's still sealed, it should last up to the expiry date on the pen which are usually many months away. To last till the expiry date it must be kept between 2 and 8 degrees.

DubLass · 03/01/2025 14:24

Silence see below ?

SilenceInside · 03/01/2025 14:29

Yes, that is unclear but does confirm what I've just said. Although it appears to be from a US site about the US style pens which only have one dose. The 21 days part doesn't apply to the UK 4 dose pens.

The UK pens say in the instruction leaflet to store at 2 to 8 degrees whilst unopened, up to the printed expiry date. After the first use, it must be discarded after 30 days and can be stored out of the fridge.

When the pharmacy sends it to you it must be kept at 2 to 8 degrees, the room temp part is only applicable after first use.

SilenceInside · 03/01/2025 14:32

Paper patient instructions, hope the image is readable.

DubLass · 03/01/2025 16:05

Well I've been using away and no issues . Mine definitely doesn't stay fully refrigerated on its journey to me !

SilenceInside · 03/01/2025 16:08

As long as it's under 8 degrees it's fine. Assuming your supplier uses frozen cold packs and insulation, it will stay under 8 degrees unless it takes a very long time to get to you. If they're arriving at room temperature I'd complain to your supplier as they're doing you a disservice and it's too expensive for them to get the basics wrong.

After being on Mounjaro for six months they have requested photos, I have stayed on 5mg and am happy with weight loss , also the last two months there has been confusion as they email back to say I can't have step up dose , I am sure there is a blip on my account and they think I a new customer, so frustrating
