Solution to resolve rash at injection site

Mysticmaiden2024 · 27/12/2024 23:50

Hi so I've finally found how to stop the red, raised, hot, itchy rash that I get everytime I inject my MJ, I tried with and without alcohol wipes, using different brand and size of needles and syringe, many other tricks. What worked was letting the pen warm up slightly by taking it out of fridge for 2 hours before injecting it.
Hope it helps someone else 😊

its very safe to leave it out of the fridge after the 1st use.. I do and never had a site reaction. Is there any reason you want to keep in the fridge?

I don't know what it is but I had a reaction 5 times only, and all the doses were from 1 pen. By reaction I mean minimal redness (size of £2 coin) so nothing serious. Didn't have an issue before and after that pen. All of them were kept in a fridge on the same shelf door shelf so no chance of freezing. Stupidly, I didn't take a note of a serial number/expiry date of a pen but it definitely was within date.

I've had it across 3 pens unfortunately! Different doses too

If it was safe then why would we need to use sterile needles and alcohol wipes. Obviously everything to prevent bacterial growth is important and being a registered scientist of 20+ years, I know that lowering temperature inhibits bacterial growth. If people choose to leave it out that's their and your choice, not mine.

The leaflet says that you can keep it out once you start using it but I also feel better when it is in a fridge and always kept it there.

@Mysticmaiden2024 just going by the instructions from the makers.. the info is on the instructions that it is safe to leave out the fridge after first use..

I know it's just 20 years working in a hospital lab, so I'm extra cautious. No-one needs to do it if it works for them being at room temperature. Also I couldn't think of where to keep it in the house so fridge is easier!

The reaction is a histamine reaction, 10% of users develop histamines in response to Mounjaro. I never keep mine in the fridge after first use and I've started getting a reaction recently so I take an anti histamine which helps.

So, you’ve decided to ignore the manufacturer’s instructions, got a rash, then want to tell everyone you’ve found the solution to your self-made problem? Which is to follow the manufacturer’s instructions after all…?

I keep getting the itchy rash when I injected into my stomach. Switched to my leg and that's been fine apart from a very small bruise.

You don't have to after first use, but like others I just prefer to keep it in there.

Thanks op. I will try that next week,

CatsorDogsrule · 28/12/2024 08:54

I tried that, but it sadly didn't work for me. It seems it is simply when your body stops reacting. I had a terrible reaction for jabs 6 to 25. Then it started reducing naturally and at jab 29 I've had a very mild reaction.

I tried warm pen, cold pen, different needle brands and lengths 4mm 6mm 8mm, alcohol wipe/ no alcohol wipe on skin, different antihistamine pills, antihistamine creams and gels, steroid cream, tiger balm, lanacane, eurax.

Fenistil Jel antihistamine was my favourite topical taken with a daily antihistamine pill. White tiger balm was good too.

If its histamine then why have I had it every week other than this week? For me it must be temperature related. Maybe yours is histamine? There are many reasons why people are more sensitive than others and react

How did I ignore the manufacturers instructions??? Stupid comment! It does not say you have to keep it at room temperature, it says can be kept at room temperature below 30.C for 30 days, it's a choice for people that don't want to keep it in the fridge!! Keep your negativity away from my thread thanks

No I was strongly reacting, so I don't believe it's just stopped. I am quite sensitive, I got cellulitis from insect bites. I'm only on jab 15. Glad you found a resolution that works for you
