Probably will be more like 30 by end of Dec. I feel like I could lose half a stone myself but the other 2/1.5 just wouldn't come off (I've been trying for years). Is it worth trying jabs or pushing on with calorie counting/ fasting etc? I'm aware of side effects etc and don't know if it's only really worth it if you have major eating issues/ very obese? Any experiences of just trying to shift 2/3 stubborn stones? I don't have any health issues.

I'd get how you get on with calorie counting and calorie deficit first. Go high protein, low carb and drink lots of water. It's free so worth a go. Most of us on MJ have a higher BMI or insulin resistance, pcos or underactive thyroid which makes it harder to lose weight so MJ really helps

My BMI was 30 when I started, I have tried everything over the years but struggled just in the same way as those who are heavier. I just exercise a lot so it has crept on slower and I can't keep it off. Been taking for 3 weeks, fourth dose is tomorrow and it's working really well. I've lost at least 4kg, haven't weighed since last monday. And I'm eating a much better amount of food, its really helping me with portion control and realising a normal amount of food!

I would prefer to lose weight slowly so will take the smallest dose possible.

I had a bmi of 28. Had piled on pounds over last years due to covid, breaking an ankle and a period of unmedicated hypothyroidism as well as menopause. I just couldn't shift it no matter what I did. I was also becoming prediabetic as have family history.
Thanks to ozempic, I've lost nearly 9kg over the last 7 months and now have bmi of 24 which is where I was 5 years ago. And I've only got up recently to 0.5mg per week after i plateaued for a bit. I feel soooo much better now. I want to lose a bit more (3 more kg) and need to figure out my maintenance plan but these jabs have been amazing. Its quite scary how little I actually can eat if I want to lose weight (and I'm losing slowly - just over 1kg per month - so not rapid loss)
However, it's not a replacement for calorie counting and exercise. I try to eat a high protein and low calorie diet and do strength training to preserve muscle mass. The jabs just make it easier to do this as you feel less hungry and have fewer cravings.

My BMI was 30 when I started. Of course I tried other diets and calorie counting first, for years actually and my weight just kept going up and up. Food noise has been debilitating my whole life. I do find it a bit odd when people jump on these threads saying try this or that first before jabs as if you hadn't thought of that yourself already. For most people, WLI are the last resort and not just because they haven't tried everything else first. It's no different to saying, "Have you tried eating less and moving more?" I will of course never advocate for people trying to obtain the drugs by lying etc, but I do have sympathy and compassion for those who are so desperate and can't stop the weight gain and food noise but just aren't obese enough yet. For me, after a life time struggle, WLI were easy and I'm not ashamed of that, and after a life time of struggling with my weight, I was very glad for easy at last.

Thanks this is all really helpful. I guess if dieting worked for me it probably would have worked in the last couple of years. I think hitting mid forties has just meant I need to eat so little to lose weight it feels daunting when life is so hectic.

Honestly don’t waste your time with the things you’ve already tired. Get the jabs and watch the weight fall off, best thing I ever did.

Della82 · 28/12/2024 20:29

My BMI was 30 when I started I was losing and gaining the same half stone for years!

I don’t regret starting WLI at all. It’s helped me stop snacking which was my downfall

I’ve lost 8kg in 7 weeks

good luck with your journey

Which companies has everyone used? I was looking at Voy, and I'm a similar BMI to the op, just about 30.

Lola3034 · 28/12/2024 20:54

I would just go for it if I were you. If you tried all the diets and did not succeed then what are the chances for diet to work this time? I don't regret starting weight loss jabs for a minute. I also tried loosing weight multiple times and failed. I am on Mounjaro since August and lost nearly 20kg which is amazing. I still have plenty more to lose but feel fantastic already and my health and wellbeing improved massively. I originally started with Zava, then switched to Medexpress.

I opted for Oushk as they have a maintenance plan.

there’s a price comparison website that details prices with discounts and how to get them.
Mounj.co.uk

make sure it’s a registered pharmacy

good luck!
