Mounjaro blues are getting to me

Ok so it's not just mounjaro but I've had a miserable time on it so far (W2, D4). I've had all the stomach issues on a cycle and 2 days ago I came down with flu. I've been up the last 2 nights in the early hours crying that I just can't do this anymore and I feel like I've ruined Christmas. I have a meeting once a month where I can't really leave the room as a minute taker and I'm petrified of suddenly feeling the desperate urge for the toilet. I guess I'm wondering if I should keep going or not. I know ultimately it's my decision but any support, I would be so grateful for.

Sorry you are feeling terrible.

Could you half your dose of 2.5mg? Iv seen a few people do this.

Tiswa · 23/12/2024 19:01

Is it worth it - for some it would be for others it won’t. Is what you are going through worth it. Are you losing weight for health reasons or for psychological reasons etc

isnthere a doctor who could give you advice or did you buy it yourself

Ilovethewild · 23/12/2024 19:09

Op, it’s really early days and mj journey is a marathon not a sprint.

as with any medication there are side effects, but if they are too uncomfortable then get some advice from your supplier but also reduce it or miss a week. If you want.

everyone can react differently so it’s hard as others may feel unwell for 1 day and lose 5lbs and others 19 lbs and plenty 2lbs. We start at different weights, eat differently and our bodies are different.

sorry you’re feeling rough 🌸

@Tiswa most people "buy it themselves" via on online pharmacy. Which will have a doctor reviewing the prescriptions. So @Mjblues could certainly contact her provider and ask for advice about the gastric issues. They won't be able to suggest doing a half dose as that's not how you're supposed to use the injection pen, but it might be worth trying. Some people do react strongly even on the 2.5mg dose.

Most but not all - not being one of them and being under actual doctor would be a factor!

The point is that no one "just buys it". It's prescribed. So there will be a prescribing doctor or prescribing pharmacist available via the online pharmacy that provided it, in order to ask advice from.

So, I messaged my doctor yesterday but it's saying that there's around a 2-3 working day turnaround on responses. I was really adamant on giving it up yesterday and I wanted to find out if there was any major risks to stopping now or if it would be better to continue this pen at least.

There's no risk to stopping, obviously the Mounjaro will take a few days to fully leave your system. What major risks were you worried about?

I think I just worried that it was 'not ok' 🥲 like maybe it would leave my system and id get similar side effects. I suppose I probably haven't been on it long enough to feel a dramatic withdrawal.

I took only 1 injection and no more. It made me feel dreadful. I work in a hospital and I can't just leave to go to the toilet at a moments notice. I had bad diarrhoea with only 2.5mg

SilenceInside · 23/12/2024 21:22

You don't get any withdrawal if you stop taking Mounjaro. Stopping taking it should reduce your unwanted gastric issues not exacerbate them. So if you want to stop there's no problem with just discontinuing the injections. Or you could delay injecting for a few days till you're in the post Christmas period, and then try 1.25mg or even less if you think that might work for you.
