Exercise/energy levels while on Mounjaro etc.?

I'm considering starting Mounjaro - my BMI is 34, and I have tried so many different approaches, I'm at the end of my tether.
My question is - do you continue to exercise while on the injections, and if so, what do you do? I train 3-4 times/week, mostly weights and some circuits/cardio. When I have tried low calorie programmes in the past, I got very frustrated with how they affected my training, as I had no energy. After seeing on other threads here how little some people eat while taking the injections, I'm worried that this will be the same... I tried the Fast800, but gave up after 12 weeks, as I couldn't function, had no energy, couldn't exercise properly, and my mood was in the dumps.
I get that the idea is that it's easier to maintain a calorie deficit if you have no appetite, but what are everyone's energy levels like? Can you function normally? Exercise?

I started at BMI 38 and I’m now 29
I have been on it for 6m. I wasn’t a big exercise queen before but I haven’t had any inclination to exercise. I am feeling that I should as I approach my goal because I need toning up x

I function normally, I don't feel weak and my mood is generally good, better than before starting taking the injections. I don't do formal exercise but the amount of walking I do has increased as I've been losing weight and I feel absolutely fine when doing it. I feel inclined to do more movement in my daily life and feel like I have more energy.

I don't think though that you can know how it will affect you as we're all individuals and have different lifestyles and experiences. But I don't think that it's inevitable at all to feel lacking in energy when using Mounjaro.

I don't feel the lack of energy that some people report, I feel much more energetic and healthy in fact, although to be fair my physical state pre Mounjaro was far from ideal.

I started 5th Sept at 15 st 7lb, I'm currently 12st 11 lb so just over 2 and a half stone lost.

I started at the beginning of October with a bmi of 33, it’s now 27.2 and I’ve been exercising, weights mostly and some cardio 5 days a week. I’ve found that I have as much energy as before, I’ve not experienced the lack of energy some people have so it affects everyone differently.

I’ve been on it 12 weeks and for me, I have had weeks when I’ve been super weak and fatigued and weeks when I’ve been totally fine. It all depends on your dosage and how you react to it, as well as how much you manage to eat. Those things can take a bit of time to figure out. I am back doing my walking and stuff now but did take a break at the beginning. It is worth it.

I felt a bit weak and shaky in the first week - think I was adjusting to it - but since then I’ve been absolutely fine, not fatigued at all.

Queenofthejabs · 23/12/2024 09:57

I’m nine weeks in and my energy levels are through the roof. I now gym it about 5-6 times a week, and enjoy it, everything works better, and I find exercise much easier and have done from the second week.

starving yourself isn’t good though, and I don’t think anyone should go below 1000 calories a day, likely more depending on height and weight. If you starve yourself you will feel exhausted.

its critical to ensure you eat enough protein and exercise. As you need to lose fat and not muscle. Starving yourself and not exercising will simply mean you lose a lot of muscle and retain more fat than you should, impacting how much you can exercise and even how you look.

Some weeks it's fine and I manage similar if not more exercise then before. Other times the fatigue really kicks my arse and I spend the day under a blanket, but I'm almost certain this is based on how well I'm managing my diet, which I'm hoping to get better at, as I'm only a month in.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 23/12/2024 11:18

I am now 6 months in and I spin 5 times a week, body pump x 2 and yoga/pilates x 4. I am also about to start (well New Year!) a resistance training gym programme.

Oh and I also walk the dogs for about an hour every day.

I’m not actually bouncing off the walls but there are days when it feels like I might! 😂
