Do your clothes feel looser?

loropianalover · 21/12/2024 13:33

I’ve experienced this as well. I think it’s because I wore my clothes so loose anyway to try hide myself, I felt like anything ‘form fitting’ didn’t fit. You might not feel comfortable in an 18 until you’re actually a 16, for example.

murraymcgill · 21/12/2024 15:11

@loropianalover @InkHeart2024 thank you yeah my shoulders are a bit looser but thay big belly ain't moving 🤦‍♀️

I'm heavy and tall and it takes me 3 stone to lose a dress size!

What core exercises are you doing?

StormingNorman · 21/12/2024 16:29

It took me a while to loose the first dress size. I think I was squeezing into it though so dropping a dress size was more like dropping a size and a half in reality. I couldn’t believe tailored clothes and jeans were actually meant to be comfortable and allow a full range of movement 😂😂😂

Similar here. But it’s a good thing to some degree as I can wear lots more clothes!

At 14 stone I am size 16-18 (M&S)
At 13 stone I am a size 16
At 12 stone I am a size 14-16 so can wear both.
At about 11.5 stone I would be around a size 14.

(I would be pretty slim at size 14 because of my build and height; at size 12 I’d be a bit gaunt I think.)

InfoSecInTheCity · 21/12/2024 16:40

Have you actually tried on some smaller sizes?

I've lost nearly 3 stone now and can still wear my size 22 dresses and they don't look terrible, but I can also wear size 16 dresses now and they look better.

It's kind of weird how you get used to clothes being badly fitted and how they look.

murraymcgill · 21/12/2024 18:23

At least my size 18 clothes fit a whole lot better I'll just be happy with that

Internal fat?

Doggymummar · 21/12/2024 20:02

I'm nearly 5 stone down and my size 16 clothes look a lot better but I'm not ina 14 yet. I. Ordering a couple of 14s in the sales but I don't think they will fit. I do have 14 PJ's from Asda but the reviews say comes up big.

Lola3034 · 21/12/2024 20:27

I have lost nearly 3 stone and only some of the clothes are too loose to wear. What I noticed is that I lost weight in all the places so even trainers feel looser(in a good way) and skinny jeans are loose in a calf area 😅 whereas before they were stretched to maximum 🤣. My waist is definitely smaller but before Mounjaro I was cramming myself into stretchy jeans probably a size too small because I refused to up the clothes size again 😅. I couldn't zip up any of my jackets but kept on wearing them with a massive scarf trying to keep myself warm. I have to say that all the money spent on Mounjaro balanced out because I was at the point where I would have to slowly change my entire wardrobe including underwear. Now, I can wear all my old stuff again!

murraymcgill · 21/12/2024 23:10

@LLola3034 I wore jeggings today and they were saggy at the bum and loose at the thighs they looked shit

Tohaveandtohold · 22/12/2024 04:15

That was me when I lost similar weight. I’ve lost more now so I’m now down a size but previously, because the belly was the last place I lost weight, it meant I could still wear my size 16 trousers as it fit around the waist but was baggy everywhere else but after 11 weeks, the belly weight is shifting and the cloth size reducing as well

TwirlyPineapple · 22/12/2024 05:25

When I started my diet, I realised how my existing clothes were not properly fitting at all.

They were old enough that they'd probably stretched a fair bit already from washing and wearing. And I was probably wearing them a bit too tight anyway, in denial/not wanting to buy new bigger clothes. So although my dress was "size 20", in reality it was probably more like a 22 in size and even then I needed a size larger.

So even though I've lost 80lbs, I've only gone down one dress/top size compared to the ones in my wardrobe.

Queenofthejabs · 22/12/2024 06:49

I think we are all guilty of cramming ourselves into too small clothes and kidding ourselves they fit, even when we wear baggy ones, telling ourselves we are size x, when we know if we got something structured, in that size, it wouldn’t fit.

i note you didn’t answer to the core exercise question. Which makes me think the answer is you’re not. Apologies if I’m wrong. But ensuring we eat enough protein and exercise as we lose weight, is really important, not just for the health benefits, but also it significantly impacts how we look and how our clothes fit.

if we don’t eat enough protein and don’t exercise, we lose muscle instead of fat, which leads to many issues, from saggy skin, because no muscle to hold it up, general flabbiness and lack of tone, and poorly fitting clothes.

the wli are great to help us loose weight, but it still requires effort.

Sanch1 · 22/12/2024 08:15

You said your size 18 clothes are fitting better so you probably have lost a dress size. At my biggest I was refusing to buy more clothes but my size 16 clothes were tight. If I'd bought new I would have had to buy an 18. You may have been closer to a 20 really?

murraymcgill · 22/12/2024 16:06

@Sanch1 @loropianalover @RosaBaby2 10lbs loss this week getting nearer to my goal

Some of my trousers look like that too😅. I am lucky in a sense that I work from home so can get away with wearing them and also, I have a long, knee length jacket that covers up the worst if I go out 😅

TheChosenTwo · 23/12/2024 13:30

I’ve lost 2 stone and my size 16 clothes are looser on me, I’ve been measuring and I’ve lost 12cms from around my shoulders in 8 weeks and another 12 from my hip circumference. I was so used to just wearing stretchy everything they everything still fits but just better. Although I bought a dress in 2 different sizes the other day and the 14 looked better because it was fitted nicely and didn’t sag around the shoulders.
it will take time but I also will echo the former comment about exercising. If you’re not doing anything then you’re losing a lot of muscle and the tone of your body will not really shrink in the way you’d like. I’ve just been doing 10 minutes of weights every day and walking 10,000 steps (I do the walking every day anyway so added in the weights) and I swim in a lake as many times a week as I can fit in to help with overall mobility.
Don’t forgo the exercise!! Sorry to be a bore 🫣

murraymcgill · 23/12/2024 13:57

@TheChosenTwo wish I could excersize it the moment I have a broken back so I struggle to even stand can't lift anything heavy I'm trying to loose weight so I can get my surgery to fix this I need to get to 12st 7 I'm 13st 4 just now

TeenLifeMum · 23/12/2024 13:59

I’m similar but I assume I was deluded and wearing a size lower than I realistically was. Now my clothes fit better and look better even if I’m still technically the same size I was. With 23lbs off, I’m definitely slimmer. My calves are also slimmer so that’s not going to impact clothing as such.

TheChosenTwo · 23/12/2024 16:35

Oh @murraymcgill how dreadful for you, you definitely need to be taking it easy,
SIL did the same falling off the edge of a balcony years ago, full body cast and a long road to recovery. You’d never know it now looking at her. Wishing you a healthy and speedy route to recovering 💐

VeryStressedMum · 23/12/2024 16:57

I found the same thing. I think I'd lost 2 stone before I properly dropped a dress size. Before that my usual clothes just fit a lot better so maybe. I've lost 6.5 stone altogether and have dropped 4 dress sizes.

murraymcgill · 23/12/2024 16:58

@TheChosenTwo I done mine years ago playing football but it's not till now I'm 52 that its had a really bad impact on my life can't wait for to be me again 😃 thank you
