Mounjaro split doses

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone had experience with splitting doses of Mounjaro?

For various reasons when I got my first 5mg pen, I had to skip a dose and then wanted to continue on a 2.5mg dose for a bit longer. Since I already had the pen, I just used half a dose for a few weeks and then 2/3rd to get to about 3.3mg. That worked great for me, and meant I got a lot more doses from each pen.

Now I want to move up to 5mg, and I'm thinking of getting a 7.5mg pen and use 2/3rd of a dose to get 7 doses out each pen instead of 5.

I was wondering if anyone was doing something similar and whether there was a good reason NOT to do it?
I'm aware that my doses might be less reliable than if I was taking a full dose each time, but it's not really been an issue for me so far.

I’ve definitely read a couple of people on here splitting doses but my concerns would be using the pen longer than 30 days and piercing the seal so many times.

Whilst I am not against a little creativity with dosing (had a month on 6.6mg) and have pushed the time limit a little, I chose to use syringes for my altered dose rather than using 2 pen needles a week to avoid puncturing the bung more than necessary.

If it’s a cost issue, the 5 is cheaper so not sure what savings you’d make and, personally, I wouldn’t take the risk.

I have been using 5mg pen for 3.75mg dose for the last 20 weeks. It is fairly common to adjust doses.

7 weeks (42 days) is too far beyond the 30 day use limit for me. You will get some who do it and haven't had any problems, I think I saw one person with very unpleasant results (in hospital on IV for dehydration) once going too far beyond the 30 days, but of course no one knows if that was the reason or something else.

7.5mg pen is around £150. I would perhaps move to 6 doses with the 6th dose on day 35, just a few days over - cost £25/week. 7 doses is £21.43/week, is it really worth the additional risk for just over £3 a week?

It blows my mind that some take such a high risk for £3/week. It comes down to russian roulette and whether you feel lucky!

It isn't just a question of whether the doses may be 'less reliable', it is whether the preservative system that the fragile peptide sits it will not be acting as it should past 30 days.

We all know that if the liquid has been frozen we should not use it - how do we know whether the same process of the peptide denaturisation does not happen when the preservative breaks down? Would you be injecting a substance that now might cause a massive allergic reaction, for example?

All multi-use and multidose medications need to be discarded 30 days after the first time a needle pieces the container. This is done scrupulously by every single pharmacy, hospital, doctor, nurse and even veterinary practitioners for every single medication whether it is stored in a refrigerator or not. And that is including medications that are a lot more robust/stable than Mounjaro is.

The only people not doing this are Mounjaro users, egged on by airheads on tiktok etc who are apparently qualified to claim that it is perfectly safe and obvs, Big Pharma just want our money.

I guess the Daily Mail will be glad for more Sad Face headlines about Mounjaro deaths, risks and side effects.

I hadn't considered any of this, so thanks all for the info! I will just get the 5mg pen.
