Please can you share some information about each of the injections? Can I pay privately? Some threads mention Asda.

I don't like the vides of injections but read about tablets.

I need to lose 5 stones and hoping this might kick start a change that has been a long time waiting,

Desperate for further information

Look at the websites of some of the main providers where they outline what treatments are available. You won't get any treatment on the NHS unless you are diabetic, in which case you should talk to whoever is managing your diabetes.

This comparison website has a list of registered prescribers you can choose from:

monj.co.uk

Usually they offer injections which are Mounjaro, Wegovy or Saxenda. Mounjaro and Wegovy are weekly injections, Saxenda is daily. Mounjaro is newer and has been shown to be more effective for weight loss than Wegovy which in turn is more effective than Saxenda.

In terms of tablets there is Rybelsus which is a daily tablet version of the same medication that's in Wegovy (semaglutide). But I don't think that many places can actually prescribe it, it's mainly used for diabetics and prescribed via the NHS.

There's the older tablets like Orlistat that are different to the newer GLP-1 medications. Orlistat works by stopping you absorbing fat but it has infamous side effects (look it up!).

The weekly injections are really not a big deal at all. I've been using Mounjaro for 24 weeks now and I have never felt the injections or had any issues with doing them. I've lost 6 stone and have another 5 or so to go.

Absolutely agree with everything Silence has said in pp.

What "vibes" worry you about the injections?

It is very daunting to think about injecting yourself with a medication rather than taking it orally, but (once you get over the needle phobia - which was a big deal for me and many others!) it is a very easy, safe and effective way to take medication. I have injected 25 times now and it has been painless every time.

The injections are subcutaneous (just under the skin into the subcutaneous fat layer) and needles can be as short as 4mm (some prefer 6mm which is also very short).
