I wondered if you could advise if this has been effective for you? And if so did you have a lot to lose to begin with?

where would be the best most reliable place to get it with a good medical assessment as I have other medications and I supposed I just want I be reassured there will be interactions if I decide to try it.

thanks in advance

Yes it's proven to be effective which is why it's available on private prescription. I started at 22stone and I am now 15st 12lbs and continuing to lose weight. I lost a lot in the first week, but it's more relevant that I have continued to lose weight on average every week for 23 weeks now.

All the legitimate online prescribers will do a full health questionnaire online where you are asked about any medication that you take and they will check for any possible interactions.

I'm this weight and plan to start but in a few months once I've got some adhd meds settled.

LL99887 · 14/12/2024 20:41

Definitely works - the appetite suppression is amazing. You can actually think about things other than food as the "food noise" disappears!

Early days for me, have just started week 2, but lost 9lbs this week!

summerlovingvibes · 14/12/2024 20:50

Started at 18st 4lbs and have just hit 15st 4lbs. I'm one step down from the top dose.

I've tried everything beforehand .... twice. This is genuinely the only thing that has ever given me consistent weightloss.

You have to "settle in" to the side effects and learn to manage things well - for example I know 2-3 days after my jab each week if I'm not very very careful what I eat that day then I can be quite ill.

It's incredible how the want to "pick" and over-eat has just gone.

I'm 3 stone down and would like to get rid of another 3. I feel optimistic that I can do this. Then will be the challenge of maintaining - but I'll worry about that later!

At 22 stone you might be able to get your gp to prescribe it.

I started in august at 16 st 6lbs and as of today I’m now 13 st 7lbs so I’d say pretty effective.

im aiming to lose another 3 stone

Not unless you have another condition such as heart disease or diabetes I'm finding.

Id love to be told otherwise!

SilenceInside · 14/12/2024 21:08

I don't think it's likely that a GP will prescribe it, unless the OP has diabetes. The NHS weight loss rollout isn't due to start until the summer and likely to be for those with several weight related health conditions as well as a morbidly obese BMI first.

Doggymummar · 14/12/2024 21:12

I started at 18 stone 2 BMI 42. With NAFLD and high cholesterol. gP wouldn't prescribe. She does monitor me though. Currently 13 stone 7 ISH. Knocked 159 points of my liver score, very nearly normal. cholesterol now .1 over. She sent me a text saying well done on Thursday

@HelloWorld2577 there's a specific thread for discount code promotion which is the only place you should be posting your code. Not on a thread asking for information. MedExpress is also not the cheapest supplier.

AubreysMonkey · 14/12/2024 21:17

I started at just under 22stone at the end of April .. I'm now just under 16stone and still losing. It's a wonder drug.

The website someone posted is good to get the best price, all of the registered pharmacies will make sure it doesn't interact with your current medication. Some pharmacies accept the Blue light card or you can get referral codes from people which will get you money off. Don't pay more than £110 for your first pen.

And they don't price match anymore, or honour discounts or allow you to share them

How long did it take?
How was it?
Any side effects?
What did yiu eat?

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/12/2024 21:23

And I meant to say that's amazing!!!! Well done!!!

Iudncuewbccgrcb · 14/12/2024 21:25

It's life changing. Especially realising how little you need to actually eat and still feel absolutely fine - if not better as a result of not constantly overreating.

Eating is now something I have to force myself to do to keep my body nourished and healthy rather than something I crave as a reward or because I feel constantly hungry and can't think of anything but what I'm going to eat for my next meal.

It's been so liberating.

My only side affects have been 'not feeling hungry'.

AubreysMonkey · 14/12/2024 21:29

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden

I started in the last week of April so 7mths ish. Side effects have been gastric issues such constipation, upset tummy at the beginning, tummy aches, 'eggy burps' (at the beginning) nothing major though

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/12/2024 21:33

I'm so impressed. I'm the same weight and would love to do the same.

Did anything in particular lead to the bad effects/certain foods or anything??

AubreysMonkey · 14/12/2024 21:33

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden

And what do I eat? Around 1400cals a day, typical day might be protein coffee or homemade smoothie for breakfast. Sandwich and cup a soup for lunch and either a smaller portion of what everyone else is eating for dinner or a protein flatbread with chicken skewers and salad for dinner. I also take fibre supplements, biotin, collagen and multi vits each day ... oh and 2-3l of water (often with electrolytes or collagen in)

Yes!! Anything greasy or very heavy (homemade lasagne with 'normal' mince is off the table), I can't face alcohol, takeaways and hot tea and coffee anymore. I eat healthily and try and get 100g of protein and 20g of fibre in each day but I'm not really bothered about food any more if that makes sense

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/12/2024 21:44

Thankyou it helps so much to hear from someone whose done it!

QueenOfHiraeth · 14/12/2024 22:00

For most prescribers you fill in a questionnaire and, if the answers are correct their prescriber authorises the medication, they dispense it and send by courier but it's worth knowing that there are different types of providers:

  1. Chequp, Juniper, Trim, Numan and some others offer a fuller service which includes more monitoring, advice and stuff like health, nutrition and exercise coaching. Great but more expensive option
  2. Boots, Superdrug, Asda and some local pharmacies offer a service where you can go into store to collect the medication so can speak with a pharmacist face to face if needed
  3. Most suppliers are online pharmacies. They are regulated and the medication is guaranteed to be genuine. Some are more professional and work to higher ethical standards than others i.e. being easily contactable for advice, queries or complaints.

It is worth noting that MedExpress and Curate have both been reprimanded by the pharmacy authorities for unprofessional behaviour (using discount codes after being told to stop) so, personally, I would avoid both of those.
Avoid at all costs anyone offering lower cost medication not via a pharmacy. There is a trade of unregulated meds via beauty salons, gyms, etc but this may not be genuine and, in the worst case, could be dangerous

I began my "journey" with one of the wraparound services then switched to an online pharmacy when I felt I no longer needed the extra support.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 15/12/2024 06:02

I'd really like the extra support but will struggle to afford it in the first place!

ThatSchoolOfficeLady · 15/12/2024 06:14

In trials it was effective for 85% of participants. Just be aware that you might be in the 15% it doesn't work for.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 15/12/2024 19:11

Eeek 😭. I would need the operation if it didn't work and that's not guaranteed either....
