MedExpress changing their price match policy so you have to jump through so many hoops to benefit from it shows what they truly are. It's less effort to switch to suppliers.

They have also made it so that you no longer get £40 if someone uses your referral code. To get the £40 credit your referral must spend over £110. Mounjaro 2.5mg with the referral code comes to £109.99, so 1p short.

Bye bye MedExpress, you had many loyal customers you are about to lose.

May I suggest everyone removes their discount codes from everywhere they have posted them, stop giving them free publicity.

I get that they're going back on their word but it does make me laugh a little when people who clearly benefitted so much and so often from their ridiculously low price (that was a bit suspicious) now decides they're rubbish because they can no longer benefit. It just goes to show that people will like you only when they can get something from you. However, Medexpress made a rod for their own backs by overpromising and now underdelivering.

I think the next brand that might have this same problem of sudden unhappy customers will be Oushk once they start getting a bit too inundated with orders and they can't fulfil everyone's personal needs as much as they're trying to as a new business with a few staff members. They too have made a rod for their own backs with fickle-minded people. Some customers have already left them and no longer think they're the best thing since sliced bread because they went back on their usp about not using discount codes and are also using tiktok influencer referrals.

(Cue their brand ambassadors, promoters and marketers on mn coming to their rescue in 3,2,1...)

OushkSmoushk · 10/12/2024 09:12

Just to clarify, I don't just mean the OP re: Medexpress. I've seen a lot of similar complaints (and one bunfight) about them recently on other platforms like Reddit and a few on Facebook.

Firestorms · 10/12/2024 09:18

I can’t see how they are scamming people. They offered a great deal to get their name out there as a provider, they are still cheaper than for example Boots.

Some people will go to other providers but they will still retain plenty of customers.

Trytowin20 · 10/12/2024 09:36

I use med express the only code I used was a new customer one (not referral, before referral came in) I've never used the referral as I can't be bothered to trudge and find one or post and hope! Would the discount be useful hell yeah but they've been fast, reliable and resent another for my first pen as the post office sent it to the wrong place! The upper pens meet the now changed criteria from reading above. You don't stay on 2.5 for long typically. A bit of a stingy move yea but not the end of the world.

Best case for them in my case it was still frozen and parcel totally sealed on receipt so it went back into stock or it didn't and was disposed of either way they sucked it up and sent another without a fuss before 'my' one got back to them.

I do keep an eye out on prices but nothing has made me go yea it's worth it to change.

That said I'll have to find out how the referral thing works I'm on 15mg now so the cost is much higher!

Darlinghag · 10/12/2024 10:32

It was always going to be unsustainable. Its why I chose a brand that don’t push referral codes (I do have one, but never use it or give it out and won’t!) and have never been at the bottom of the price point. Its worth it to never have issues with excessive approval times or delivery and stock issues!

I think soon companies will stop these codes altogether - they will get enough custom from folks without it now WLI are more common knowledge and there will probably be a pressure to be stricter with approvals and checks (so more staff to pay for!).

WeAllHaveWings · 10/12/2024 10:50

Businesses grow, change and need to be profitable. The market in WLI is still new and constantly changing. It is a huge over reaction to call for everyone to remove their codes where they have posted them etc. They have not murdered kittens, they, like suppliers of any products, have just changed their discounts / referral scheme / price match.

You are not tied to them, if you like any suppliers service and/or price point stick with them, if not try elsewhere and leave everyone else to make their own decisions too 🤷🏻‍♀️

colesr · 10/12/2024 10:54

What's the scam?

Tohaveandtohold · 10/12/2024 11:21

What’s the scam though?
Like I get it sucks that when a new customer use your referral code now, you won’t get the £40 because they’ll spend less than the £110 so it’s pointless as most of the people who use the codes are new but companies change their discount policies, voy did recently as well, it’s just how it is. They’re a business, they need to make profit so that’s it. It’s just like every company offer, price reduction, etc, it changes.
Good if you have benefitted in the past, if it’s not working now, look for another company that suits and switch. I’ll switch providers as well for the best price if needed as well.

Firestorms · 10/12/2024 11:55

Med express don’t just sell WLI, you can add a cheap item to get over £110 such as 99p paracetamol.

doodleschnoodle · 10/12/2024 12:11

I find all this referral code touting when it's prescription medication quite distasteful anyway, and I wouldn't be surprised if regulations were changed to avoid it in future. Hopefully this will cut down on the daily flood of disingenuous posts raving about MJ purely so people can shill their codes. I purposely chose a provider who doesn't offer any of this weird MLM-style referral code stuff.

Trytowin20 · 10/12/2024 12:25

@doodleschnoodle ha this thread is what made me add my referral to the referral thread. No shilling here, know what you mean though! 😉

Been legitimately pleased with med express so thought it was a bit bad to have them labelled as scammers. I've just ordered my next one early (avoiding the Xmas post rush) and just seen the prices have gone down a little so I'm happy, they've obviously price matched to someone so I'm winning for once. 😆

Orangesandlemons77 · 10/12/2024 12:29

Why not just use one of the other cheaper ones on www.monj.co.uk instead, also there are others which price match for example Simple online pharmacy.

UK GPhC Pharmacy Comparison | Monj

Compare costs of Mounjaro services from regulated UK pharmacies without any hassle.

ForeverSkys · 10/12/2024 13:04

I used cloud just now and had small discount and been approved. I looked at med express and wasn't convinced by them so went with cloud who answered my questions brilliantly

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 10/12/2024 13:42

Just read a post on Reddit that ME have changed their price match policy again and have published a list of the only providers they will price match. All of whom are obviously more expensive! 🤦‍♀️

Yes I saw that too.

Menace24 · 10/12/2024 15:41

Bring 1p short isn't a scam. You're not being scammed, you're just not spending enough.

07whatever · 10/12/2024 16:32

I'm pretty sure it has always been this way? How much did you have to spend to get referral credit previously?

07whatever · 10/12/2024 16:37

Also it says here when they spend £110 or more, to enter the code. Well they will be, Mounjaro is £149.99 before discounts.

IndigoHexagon · 13/12/2024 13:12

My friend used my referral code and just ordered the 2.5mg pen - once they added on postage it called to £113 so I got the £40 credit.
