Is this gastroparesis?

I've been taking Rybelsus (semaglutide tablets) prescribed by the NHS for type 2 diabetes for about 6 months. They messed up the doses so I was on the starter dose of 3mg for 3 months instead of a month, I then went up to 7mg for a couple of months and have taken the highest dose which is 14mg for about a month. I did well on the initial doses but since I went to 14mg I have struggled with the side effects. I've had occasional vomiting when I eat too much but this time it is much worse.

I ate an egg sandwich and then thin steak, potatoes and veg on Wednesday and they didn't digest and sat in my gut. I threw them up at about lunchtime on Thursday. I did eat later on in the day but threw that up about midnight.

On Friday I didn't take my tablet to try and give my stomach time to settle. I saw the pharmacist who gave me peptac to try and settle my stomach. I had a prawn sandwich at lunchtime and chickpea curry and rice for dinner. The pepac has made a little bit of difference to the general discomfort and horrible burps but my stomach is still really full feeling and uncomfortable.

Today I can still feel that I have got food in my stomach, my stomach feels really full and uncomfortable and I'm still burping all the time and have an acidy feeling at the back of my throat.. I'm not hungry at all but will eat dinner (fish, salad and bread) later.

It's worrying me that my stomach doesn't seem to be emptying properly and I have the feeling of fullness even with not taking the tablet for two days.

I know that nobody can diagnose me and I will try and make a GP appointment on Monday but does this sound like gastroparesis?

I don't know if it has a name, but I through up a lot on Ry. I also found it hard to swallow and often woke in the night panicking I was going to die. I had a rough time, I hope you sort it out.n

@Doggymummar Did you ask for medical advice at the time?

Did you stop the Rybelsus because of the side-effects?

I had post-viral gastropareisis and it was as you describe.

It sounds exactly like when I had gastritis for the first time. The doctor explained that the excess acid makes it feel like you're full all the time. I was prescribed 3 months of Lansoprazole and it got better.

No, I stopped it as it stopped working for me, and moved to Mounjaro to finish my journey. I have the same symptoms on MJ as well tho so I think it's just how it effects me. It is listed as a side effect on Ry, so I didn't seek help and I got used to it after a couple of months. It's unpleasant tho.

If you have been eating today, aren't hungry and have a very full feeling stomach, is it wise to eat fish salad and bread for dinner?

Do you need the food to control your blood sugars, or would it be safe to skip the odd meal while feeling like this?

I think you need medical advice @Gingerkittykat

In the meantime drink lots of fluids and eat very small, easily digested meals.

I've googled gastritis and it definitely fits the symptoms I have. I'll persevere with the peptac and see how things go over the weekend.

To be honest I'd bought really expensive fish which is not freezable and wanted to use it. I ate a small portion and it has made my stomach hurt a bit so no it probably wasn't wise to eat it.

I would think that peptac isn't strong enough, if it is gastritis, as it just neutralises stomach acid. You need to see your GP and see if you need a prescription for a PPI (protein pump inhibitor, lansoprazole or omeprazole etc.) which cuts the amount of acid produced by the stomach. I had it prescribed at the full dose for 3 months then half dose to come off it gradually. It takes a couple of days to start working but the relief is wonderful.

Thanks for the advice. If things don't improve over the next couple of days, I'll definitely see my GP.
