When to start Mounjaro?

Debating with myself whether to start Mounjaro today or delay by 2 weeks. I was prescribed Mounjaro for weight loss (31.4BMI) but for various reasons there was a delay in delivery and now I’m wondering if I should brave it or delay starting tfor another two weeks.

The reason is - I’m travelling for work for the next two weeks with a 24h break at home next Friday. Technically, I could take it today and then next Friday without having to take the injection with me but I have an 11h flight on Sunday, busy work week, then another 11h flight home, And I repeat it all in the opposite time-zone direction the next week. I’m a bit scared of having to deal with side effects on a plane or hotel but I’m equally really eager to start.

Are there any ways to prevent side effects? Or I better not risk it and wait to be home again before I start?

I’d just wait. You don’t know how you’ll react and long flights and gastro problems aren’t a feel-good combination, and also less control over food where you’re in meetings/hotels. I had it sitting in my fridge for a couple of weeks too for the same reason and whilst really keen to start asap it was much better to start with a low intensity, mainly desk based week where I was in charge of my own food.

I waited a week because I had a long car journey to do and didn't want to get stuck on the A1 with gastro issues. Turns out I didn't get those symptoms but I don't regret waiting.

Not really. There are no ways to prevent them because there are no ways to know if you'll get side effects and what you'll get. It's a gamble. The only thing you can do is prepare for them and get things like anti-sickness/travel sickness tablets, medicines for constipation, diarrhoea, antihistamines, otc meds that may help you sleep, etc. Just in case you get any of these side effects.

Or I better not risk it and wait to be home again before I start?

It depends on you but in my opinion, I'd say better safe than sorry. You may or may not have any side effects but since you can't tell and you wouldn't want to be dealing with extra stuff working outside the home, I'd wait till you get home. If you're up for the gamble though, go for it and start; it might work out for you.

I'd wait. I haven't had any side-effects other than a little bit of constipation but 11 hours on a plane is bad enough even without possible digestive distress.

Yeah, it sounds like it’s a no brainer to wait. Now I have to suppress my impatience and focus on preparing what I can for when I do start in 2 weeks. Any tips for starting?
