Weight loss injections - anyone run while starting them?

I’ve been looking at investing in weight loss injections for a while now but haven’t yet made a decsion.
one of the concern have is around running - I like to run/jog at least 2-3 times a week and do a couple of half marathons a year. I really need this for my mental health and I struggle if I miss a week or so of exercise for any reason.
i am very slow partly due to my weight - running doesn’t help with this as I don’t have the willpower to not eat back the calories, but I’d love to lose weight and smash my PBs.

does anyone have experience of regular running/jogging and if ill still be able to do this (energy and side effects?).

I regularly run on my home treadmill everyday while on it. It's different from going out to run but I don't see why you can't. I just prefer a treadmill. Depending on what your side effects are, they come and go and shouldn't generally prevent you from going out and getting things done just like with work, etc. People go to the gym on it too, take care of kids, etc. So you should be fine.

I am in the gym most days now and run regularly, I have way more energy, everything works better.

i don’t understand why you think you’d not be able to?

Thank you! I guess just reading the side effects and reviews of people not feeling great. Obviously I can get on with work, looking after kids, housework while feeling rough but wondered if the general feeling of the side effects is ‘fine but too rough to exercise - kind of like a hangover or mild virus?’

No, it's not for most people most times, unless you're extremely unlucky. Remember you'll usually hear more from those who're struggling with something. Others will just get on with it because they're okay.

There have been times when some side effects included fatigue but for the most part, you feel either normal or energised to do what you have to do.

Thousands of people take these medications with no side effects. Despite what you may read here and in mainstream media, the majority of people have no side effects. The only way you will find out is to try it.

The one thing you do need to watch is to make sure you have eaten something before exercising as it is easy to forget to eat.

@NameChangedOct24 I have more energy and find I am more active by default since being on Mounjaro. Losing several stone definitely helps I'm sure, but I don't get the tiredness that others occasionally report on these threads. I don't tend to get any other side effects now either, unless I eat sugary, fatty carby stuff (which I never do!).

All the advice from my prescriber encourages you to exercise and build that into your daily life.

You might find you need to ease up whilst settling into the meds. I felt quite tired the first month, too.

My experience of weight loss and fitness (like most on this board, I have plenty of experience!) is that I can EITHER get fitter OR lose weight. I struggle to do both at the same time. For eg, I am thinking about getting to a BMI of about 26 (I'm currently 28) and then increase my running and go onto maintenance calories for a wee while.

I have much more energy now - especially due to the 3.5 stone weight loss. I ran a very good 10k race this weekend, my best time in 8 years! Go for it and see how you feel. I've been lucky not to have any side effects at all. I also go to the gym every day, I do boxing, cardio, swimming, weights. Good luck!

I run and do light weight training. The only major side effect I have is constipation and this has not affected that.
