I’ve decided I want to try Mounjaro. How do I start? How did you pick a provider? Do they differ a lot from each other in what they offer? How long from calling them up and starting injections?Who does the monitoring blood tests?

So much to think about - any advice?

Not normally any monitoring blood tests and generally you order online, many providers ask for proof of ID, photos to prove BMI etc and you answer questions about medical history.

You’ll find on other threads link to a spreadsheet of different providers.

I have been motivated by price, and found Zava to be good. PM me if you’d like a code, think it’s 15% off for you (and me).
Ive been paying around £122 per pen including postage.

medexpress is quite popular at the moment too.

i would avoid Voy.

You don't need monitoring as far as I know. I picked a name I'd heard of that has a local branch and a reputation to protect, and one that did inform your GP (some don't). I sent some online info and had a prescription dose with me within 3 days. I started on the lowest dose.

I did declare it on a recent travel insurance application as it's prescribed medication.

TempletonPink · 26/11/2024 22:35

Thanks all. Is there generally a favoured provider on these boards? Price would be a motivator for me too.
I can't find the thread with the price comparisons - I saw it once but now can't find it. If anyone can link me to it I'd be very grateful!
I just assumed there would be some kind of monitoring (bloods, etc), but it sounds like there isn't?! Do you get to speak to a doctor?

I didn't speak to a doctor, no, though there is an online doctor involved in some form. I generally don't react badly to medication, I have no allergies and no background health issues other than the obesity itself. You do have to give health information when you are first in touch.

NCfor24 · 26/11/2024 22:47

Find online provider...(I used Bolt then Zava then MedExpress....chased prices).
Order lowest dose online. Complete all health questions and provide photos etc as required.
Receive medication.
Read accompanying leaflets etc carefully. Maybe watch YouTube video on how to administer...first injection is scary but actually absolutely fine!
Keep going!
My providers have all sent my GP a copy of the prescription each time. I've not had any blood questions tests or monitoring.
Have just started transfer to a different provider to support tapering down and maintaining weight loss.
I have nothing but good things to say about my Mounjaro experience. Good luck!

Edited for typos

Thanks all.

@NCfor24 so did you change providers when one became cheaper than another? Can you switch between them easily like that?

This is one of the comparison sites.
You will have an online consultation. Height, weight, medical history etc. You will need to provide photos of yourself. Photo ID is also required with some providers. No blood tests, if you have any questions you can msg them through your online account.

TempletonPink · 26/11/2024 22:51

Thanks @Time4changeagain!

Has anyone ever known someone being refused mounjaro on account of other meds or health conditions?

Just provided evidence of previous order so they could see I was already on the medication, as well as a full length photo to prove obese/overweight status. Wasn't an issue at all. I did a month with Bolt, 2 with Zava and have done maybe 6 with MedExpress (lost count). Just transferred to Oushk for maintenance with a healthy BMI.

Some suppliers will blanket reject some medical conditions (seems to be the cheaper ones usually), others will take a more individual assessment or might ask to consult with your Dr for approval (mid range price ones).

Lots of conditions should be fine such as high blood pressure etc. Just declare everything, if they do reject you it will be for good reason l
